Burlington Hunters 7 Valley Ducks 6
The Hunters defeated the Ducks in extra innings 7-6 in a wild back and forth game. Burlington would jump out to a early 3 run lead thanks to strong offensive performances from Jheremi Rosado and Zack Martin who both had multi-hit games. Chris Oliwa would settle in on the mound and shut down the Hunters for the next 5 innings. The Ducks climbed back to tie the game in the bottom of the 5th thanks to a bases clearing double by Ryan Shiel. The Ducks would tack on one more run in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead. With their backs against the wall, 2 outs in the 7th, Andrew Bunger would tied the game wth a RBI single. The game would then go in to extra innings, and after some back and forth in the 8th, the Hunters would score the go-ahead run in the 9th inning to seal the game. Andrew Bunger picked up the win throwing 3 innings in relief. (Yes you read that right, he actually pitched good enough)
Fun facts of the game include: Tommaso Tollis finally recorded a hit; praying to Jobu has seemed to pay off…both teams, fans, and umpires had a hard time deciding if mint was the same color as white, but common sense prevailed and Andrew Bunger was allowed to pitch with his mint glove, and after concerns over missing Hunter Tyler Doyle who has not been to a game in weeks, Team officials have asked the local authorities to conduct an investigation.
