Burlington Hunters 14 Candlewood Kraken 11
The Burlington Hunters defeated the Candlewood Kraken 15-10 in their final game of the regular season to earn their 18th win. The Hunters got off to a quick lead and eventually led 14-3 in the bottom of the 6th. However, the Kraken would rally in the top of the 7th and score 7 runs to bring them closer, until Andrew Bunger would come in to slam the door and earn the rare 8 out save (yes you read that correctly). Chad Lavelle and Jeff Osak had 2 hit performances. George Zaruba and Ty Morin had 3 hit days. Zaruba could have had a double, but pulled a Sway and did not run out of the box thinking he hit a homer and ended up with a single, what an idiot. However, the player of the game goes to Steve Caruso who recorded 4 hits, a double, and drove in 5 runs, for some reason he was extra motivated in this game. David Kerlejza earned the victory on the mound pitching in relief of Jake RInkavage who threw a strong 4 innings. The Hunters wait to see who their opponent will be in the first round of the playoffs, while the Kraken look to finish the regular season against the Winsted Whale and the Naugatuck White Sox.
Game Highlights: Tommaso Tollis finally had an error free game; In his first at bat of the season Chris Rossi singled in the bottom of the 8th and finished the regular season with a perfect batting average; Taylor Donofrio is having a great time in Puerto Rico; and finally Jacob Paschetto and Tim Krol are bozos and love working more than they love playing baseball.
Wolcott Scrappers 12 Valley Ducks 3
The Scrappers finished the season on a 4 game win streak, taking down the Ducks 12-3 at Wolcott High School. Wolcott put up 3 in the first and never looked back. Ben Bianchi got the start for the Scrap, going 5 strong with 3 Ks. Offensively, Josh Dunne led the way with 5 RBIs on 3 hits, including a double. Nick Sconz went 2/3 with a 2B, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs, but got hosed at second to end that first inning. The team agrees he can no longer be described as “fast”. Drew Rocca can be described as “fast”, with 5 steals to go along with 4 runs scored and 2 knocks. Carson Lentini also had 2 hits, him and Drew were so stoked to be at this game with a playoff game in Simsbury not long after.
For the Ducks, Jacobi Bouchard and Nick Baker combined to strikeout 9. John McMahon had 2 hits, a run scored and a double. Alex Mentone drilled a 2-run homer in the 8th, in what can best be described as a “wall-scraper”, hitting the literal top of the left field fence. Welcome back to Wolcott High School AJ Martinez.
The Scrap had a chance to end the game in the 7th, but Joe Dunne strategically chose to drop Ethan Stepputtis’s bullet from center field so he could hit again.

Canton Crushers 12 Naugatuck White Sox 2
The Canton Crushers close out the regular season with a 12-2 victory over Naugatuck Saturday morning at Bowdoin field.
The 11th win of the Crushers season marks the best regular season in team history. Jimmy Spirito went the distance for Canton the Tri-State Veteran surrendered 6 hits and 2 runs only one earned over 8 innings, striking out 7. Tarrance Noss Jr. took the loss for Naugatuck. The pitcher went 6 innings, striking out 1 and only walking 2. Ben Sullivan, Cole Varano, Matt Rose, Mike Sullivan, and Angel Christiano each collected two hits for the Crushers. Jackson Senecal and Mulhall each drove in two runs.
Jermey Ross went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Victor Rivera, Noss Jr , Edison Ortiz each collected one hit for Naugatuck.
