Wolcott Scrappers 5 Waterbury Mountain Boys 4
After some great work from the higher ups to secure a field the morning of, the Scrap won their 5th straight on Wednesday, 5-4over the Mountain Boys at Waterville Park. The Wolcott offense started off hot with a plethora of hits and 4 runs in the bottom of the first. There would not be much offense after that for the Scrap, and the Mountain Boys tied the game in the top of the 4th with some great swings and some really great (not) defense from the Scrap. In the bottom of the 4th, Dillon Fernandes hit his second (first) double of the day and was manufactured over to third. He would then score on a wild pitch for the deciding run.
Alec Ash got the start for the Scrappers and gave up 0 ER in 5 innings, striking out 3 and stranding a ton of baserunners. AJ Martinez got out of jams in both the 6th and 7th to secure the save. Offensively, Dillon Fernandes had 2 RBIs to go with his hits, and Carson Lentini had 2 hits, including a double. The defense also turned two double plays and was instrumental in escaping jams (sometimes). Jack Schwenger got the start for the Mountain Boys, and settled in after the first inning to strike out 5. Jake Chacho and Steve Urbanski had triples for Waterbury, while Gratt had 2 hits and 2 steals.
