Winsted Whalers 6   Canton Crushers 1

Game recap coming soon.

Burlington Hunters 2   Amenia Monarchs 1

The Burlington Hunters secured their 10th win of the season defeating the Amenia Monarchs 2-1.   In a pitcher’s duel with Amenia’s Colby Dunlop, Taylor Donofrio would earn the win on the mound logging 5 innings, surrendering 1 run on 7 hits while striking out 4.  Dunlop (who was also 2/3 at the plate) had a strong performance on the mound scattering 9 hits while recording 14 punchouts in the tough luck loss.

Amenia took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a Lincoln Taylor RBI single.  The Hunters responded by getting the tying run in scoring position several times but could not get the big hit.  However, in the top of the 6th Chad Lavelle (3/3 with a triple) would set the table with a single and then Jacob Paschetto swatted a go-ahead 2 run home run to give the Hunters the lead.  Tim Krol then entered the game on the mound to close the door for the Hunters earning the 6 out save, striking out 5 to do so. The Hunters are back in action Thursday where they will battle the Naugatuck White sox while the Monarchs look to get back in the win column Thursday July 9th against the Bethlehem Plow.

Game Highlights: Andrew Bunger and Jeff Osak were both completely useless at the plate; Zack Rinkavage was activated off the IL making his season debut and was able to keep his vertebrae in tact; and finally yesterday marked the first time since his first year as a Hunter where Donofrio did not lose his mind on one of his fielders when they made an error.
