Canton Crushers edged out the Winsted Whalers 6-5 in yet another battle between the friendly rivals. Jake Bryant earned the win for the Crushers. The hurler surrendered seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out two and walking four. Mark Cummings took the loss for the Whalers. The starter went three and one-third innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking six. Angel Christiano collected the save. Canton Crushers collected nine hits in the game. Varano led the Crushers with two runs batted in . The second baseman went 3-for-3 on the day. Jack Rose and Mike Sullivan each collected multiple hits for Canton. Winsted Whalers tallied 10 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Jay Torres led the Whalers with three hits including an absolute Nuke 2 run Home Run to centerfield. Canton Crushers welcome Torrington Thunder on Sunday at Bowdoin Field
