Winsted Whalers 9 Candlewood Kraken 5
Ah S***, here we go again. Kraken v Whale, they just played against each other two days ago at Walker Field, this time it was in the Kraken’s part of the ocean. The Whale would put up some early runs within the first two innings. In the first inning, Adam Wright smoked a triple that scored 2 RBI and TJ Kent singled, scoring Wright for a 3-0 lead. In the second inning, Andrew Billig lead of with a double, some walks followed, and then Steel Brobston singled in two more runs. By the end of the 2nd, the Whale were up 8-0. Kraken made a great move and brought in Connor Corcoran who went on to pitch 5 scoreless innings with 8 Ks, and allowed only 2 hits. He made some batters look silly.
Talking about great pitching, Casey Weingart threw another gem going 6 innings of no runs, actually who cares. Coaching staff, being up 8-0, decided to bring in some new pitching talent by the name of Trevor Parsons. His VERY FIRST pitch in TriState, Spencer Barnett took him about 800’ to left field. He then proceeded to throw 8 balls, which resulted in two walks and that was it. He had fun. Mark Cummings then came in and threw a lot of competitive pitches and with that amount of success, only gave up 2 ER, letting Parson’s walks score as well. 8-5 was the score and the Whale were questioning life. An additional run by the Whale in the 8th gave some breathing room for Jay Torres to shut down the 8th and 9th. Whale 9 Kraken 5
Andrew Ferrucci beat the hat trick and recorded 4 Ks while Mark Cummings also joined Ferrucci for the 0-5 gang.
Austin Brochu’s first hit odds increased to +500 due to AWOL status.
