CT Sliders 5   Naugatuck White Sox 0

The sliders defeated the naugatuck white sox 5-0 in a game that was much closer than it appears on the final box score. The sliders were sustained by the combined pitching efforts of Ian Glover (5 IP 3H) and Henry Marino ( 2 IP 4K ) . Offensively, the sliders were led by Joe Dicrosta (4-4, SB) , Ty Giambra (2-4 2B), and James Duda (2-4). The sliders tacked on two in the first with Giambra and Ryan Montini singling followed by an RBI ground out by Pat Smith and an error allowing both runs home. They would tack on 3 more with a Dicrosta leadoff single, followed by a walk and Josh dobratz RBI double. Naugatuck had multiple instances with runners on but couldn’t break through despite a very loud final out off the bat of Louis Perez that almost left the ballpark. Naugatuck had multiple pitchers record a strikeout and Julio pastrana also played well on defense. The sliders begin the year 2-0 for the second straight season.

Wolcott Scrappers 13   Waterbury Mountain Boys 8

The Scrappers moved to 2-0 holding on for a 13-8 victory over the Mountain boys after leading 13-1.
Not the prettiest of pitched games, though some were knocking the rust off, as there were 19 walks issued.
The Mountain boys were led at the plate by Fran Phelan, 2 hits 3 rbi and Connor Goggin with a hit , 2 walks and 2 runs scored.
For the Scrap:
Ethan Stepputtis had 2 hits and rbi and a run scored.
Alex James, 1-2, 2 walks, 3 run scored and an rbi.
Nick Sconziano 1-2, walk, 2 runs and and an rbi.
Devin Fuegen, who broke the game open with a booming 3 run double during a 9 run second inning.
