Amenia Monarchs 5 Winsted Whalers 1
The Monarchs beat Winsted 5–1 to earn their first win of 2026. Camden Redstone got the start for the Monarchs, pitching 6⅔ innings. He struggled early, giving up a leadoff home run to Jay Torres and a double to Lukas Gryniuk. After loading the bases in the first inning, he escaped the jam with a strikeout and a pop-up.
Amenia answered in the bottom of the first with an RBI double by Aidan Hartwell. The score remained unchanged until the fifth inning, when Amenia loaded the bases and Brennan Laundry hit a single to drive in two runs.
Winsted threatened in the seventh, loading the bases again with two outs and the top of the order coming up. The Monarchs brought in Colby Dunlop, who secured the save.
CT Sliders 5 Candlewood Kraken 4
The sliders defeated the candlewood kraken Thursday night 5-4 in walkoff fashion. The sliders did virtually nothing at the plate and were lost against Kraken starter Mason Berna who carried a no hitter into the fifth until a Pat Raymond single put the sliders in the hit column. The kraken got all four of their runs in the 3rd when a pair of walks and a single by Zach Mars loaded the bases. An rbi single by Nick Sturino and a bases loaded walk by Jake Coniglio along with a fielders choice held the game at 4-0. It remained that way until the Sliders woke up in the final frame with singles by Ray Campbell, followed by 3 straight walks/hbp helped the Sliders push across the first run of the season. Another hbp and an EJ Quint single tied the game and a walk off wild pitch helped the Sliders escape with a victory. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. Sliders look to stay undefeated vs Naugatuck Wednesday evening at Rotary.
