Game recap coming

Burlington Hunters 8   Winsted Whalers 6

The Burlington Hunters held on in extra innings to beat the Winsted Whalers 8-6 in a back and forth game.  The Hunters opened the game with an early 3 run lead thanks to two 2-out singles from Zack Martin and Tommaso Tollis.  Peter Greenwood would enter the game in relief for the Whale and shut down the Hunter offense for the next few innings.  Ty Morin started on the mound for the Hunters and kept the Whale in check until the 4th and 5th innings when the Whale would plate 5 runs to take a 5 to four lead thanks to key hits from Johnny Lippincott, Chet Warner, and Tim Smith.  In the top of the 6th the Hunters would tie the game and in the top of the 7th Andrew Bunger with 2 outs would deliver a go-ahead RBI single.  In the bottom of the 7th down to their last out, the Whale would scratch a run across to send the game to extra innings.  In the top of the 8th with 2 outs, Tommaso Tollis would hit a loud 2-run double to give the Hunters the lead.  Taylor Donofrio would shut down the Whale in the top of the 8th to secure the victory.

Fun facts of the game include:  Jobu is 5-1, 17 games into the season, Josue Lopez is STILL confused about the rules of baseball and thought he could remove himself from the field and continue to hit, Tyler Doyle is once again missing and team officials are concerned, Zack Martin wowed fans and his teammates when he scored from 1st, and finally Hunter legend Jay Pelletier had a key out to end the 7th inning, allowing him to be the runner on 2nd in the 8th which allowed him to score the winning run.
