Burlington Hunters  7  Canton Crushers 3

The Burlington Hunters defeated the Canton Crushers 7-3 to improve to 2-2 on the young season.  Taylor Donofrio went 5 innings on the mound, scattering 6 hits and striking out 7 to earn his second victory despite needing some work on his PFPs.  Ty Morin recorded the rare 6 out save pitching in relief, striking out 3.  The Hunters were led offensively by George Zaruba (3/3, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and Ryan Lavelle (3/5, Double, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 3 SB).  Ryan Raponey also had a big day setting the table drawing 3 walks and scoring twice.  Matt Rose and Heath Cotton led the way offensively for the Crushers both notching 2 hits each.

Fun facts of the game include: Zack Martin stole the show with a perfectly timed delay steal.  The Canton defense was in awe of Martin’s blazing, majestic speed and froze on the play.  However, the very next pitch, winded from his heads up play, Martin was thrown out by 50 feet trying to take third on a wild pitch. Third base coach Jason Pelletier struggled to hide his disappointment.  Josue Lopez still struggles with the rules of baseball and had a hard time understanding why the DH cannot go in to play the field whenever he wants at any time and continues to beg for a pinch runner at all times.  Lastly, Ryan Raponey despite his well played game is facing a team fine and possible suspension for not bringing the right colored jersey to the game.
