Naugatuck Wins in dramatic walk off fashion against Brass city ! It came down to the wire on Tuesday with a dramatic walk off, off the bat of John Artes. The Vipers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 4th behind clutch hitting from Jake and Manny . The Naugatuck bats were quiet until the bottom of the 6th when Carlos Maysonet and Richie Aviles hit back to back singles. Setting up Matt Morelli (3-3 2 RBIs) who delivered on his 3rd hit of the day driving in 2 runs to tie the game. Tie game heading into the bottom of the 7th and Mitch Barnett started it off with a single. A world class bunt by Christian Cuevas would follow setting up the Nightmares . Brandon Spadolino would get intentionally walked setting up Big John Artes at the plate with the winning run on second. A passed ball would put the winning run 90 feet away with 1 out. Next pitch John Artes hits a hard ground ball to Short that was booted allowing the winning run to score. Nightmares Win 3-2 in a comeback ! Brass city was led on the mound by Leifert who went all 7 innings notching 4 ks and 3 earned runs in a solid outing . Naugatuck was led by the old tristate vet Jason Krajeski on the hill who went all 7 innings and struck out 6 in a great outing.

Adam Piechowski made his return from retirement, on the bump, for the Whale. Going 4IP, 2 Hits, 0 Walks, and 1 ER, I would say his debut was a success. Brooks Belter would come in for the last 3 innings and with 5 K, 2 Hits, and 0 ER, that would be the game. Offense for the Whale did indeed show up for this game and was able to tack on 13 runs with key hitters like Mark Cummings, going 3-4 with 3 singles, Tony Pucino going 2-4 with 2 singles, and Chet Warner going 2-3 with two singles and two HitByPitch. If there is a league agreement to hit Chet, then keep it coming because we love OBP! The Gamecocks were able to tack one run on in the 3rd with Torres getting on by a fielder’s choice and Fernandez smashing a double to score him. There were held after that. Final Score: Whale 13 – Gamecocks 1.
