Wolcott Scrappers 2     Candlewood Kraken 0

In the penultimate regular season game for the Scrap, they prevailed 2-0 over the Candlewood Kraken at the BAW. Aiden Bisallion shoved for 7 innings, racking up 12 Ks and giving up just 1 hit. The winning knock came from Ryan Ciampi in the bottom of the second, when he drove in Joe Dunne (HBP, weak staredown). David Cardinale (HBP, broken elbow) also scored on a wild pitch that inning. Both the Scrap and the Kraken would threaten a couple times the rest of the game, but the score remained the same. Aiden Martinez, Josh Dunne, and Nick Sconz all reached base twice for the Scrappers. Kyle Bennett had the lone hit for the Kraken, while Mason Berna got the start, going 5 innings racking up 5 Ks.
In other news: Joe Sconz tracked down some fly balls in center despite moving like an old man, a missing persons report has been filed for Dillon Fernandes, and Aiden Bisallion did his best Blake Stone impression and bounced for better pastures after shoving. Winsted Whalers 4    CT Sliders 1

Jay Torres threw a complete game of 7 innings Thursday night at Municipal Stadium. Must be a home turf kind of effort, but with those 7 innings came 1 ER, 4 hits, 7 Ks and 2 walks (also 1 HBP). For the first time in Torres’s starting career, he kept his WHIP to a 1.0. Everybody should buy a lotto ticket because the stars and moon must have lined up. The Sliders’ offense was alive in the 2nd inning when Josh Dobratz went deep left center for a lead off double. Even though Dobratz would get out at 3rd off a fielder’s choice, Ian Glover would single, 3 at bats later, and drive in a run. Torres would hold the Sliders offense for the rest of the game provided he mixed up our veteran catcher, Chet Warner, a couple of times almost killing him; Warner loves when Torres pitches.

The Whale offense was kind a sluggish through out the night. Andrew Ferrucci got the good ol hat trick for 3Ks, Peter Greenwood was trying to hit 400ft bombs with a 60mph swing speed, and Johnny Lippincott’s helmet flew further over the dugout than any of the balls he hit during the game. Some life came about as Jay Torres went 2-3 (2 Singles, Walk), Steele Brobston went 1-3 (RBI Single) and Lukas Gryniuk 1-4 (RBI Triple) legged out a triple with a ball that hit the fence in dead center at 400 feet. Mitchell Gryniuk went 3-3 (3 Singles, 1RBI) during the game; he wants to try and raise his average above .250 for the season. Stats say he must repeat 3-3 another 6 games to come close. Final play of the game was a rocket off the bat of Slider’s player, Ian Glover, to Casey Weingart who doubled up the guy on first. Final Score: Whale 4 – Sliders 1
