Candlewood Kraken defeated Tri-Town Trojans 6-0 on Saturday at Community Field as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Luke Pliego and Mason Berna each pitched for Candlewood Kraken in the game. Berna struck out 12 batters on the day. The right-handed pitcher also allowed one hit and zero runs over eight innings while walking one.

Candlewood Kraken opened the scoring in the first after Spencer Barnett singled, scoring one run. A single by Zach Mars, and a fielder’s choice by Jake Coniglio helped Candlewood Kraken extend their early lead in the second. Connor Gannon took the loss for Tri-Town Trojans. The pitcher went five innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking two. Pliego tossed one inning of shutout ball for Candlewood Kraken in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking two. Candlewood Kraken tallied 10 hits in the game. Leo Paragrino went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Candlewood Kraken in hits. Jake Coniglio, Zach Mars, Spencer Barnett, and Leo Paragrino each drove in one run for Candlewood Kraken. Jake stole three bases and Leo stole one. Kraken Welcome Sliders on Monday at 6pm at New Milford High School.

Waterbury Mountain Boys 15   Amenia Monarchs 2

Colby Linnell had 4 hits and 4 runs scored.  Isaiah Walker had 3 hits and two walks.  Mason Hansen pitched a complete game giving up one earned run.
Warren Lounsbury and Leshawn Thrasher collected 2 hits each for Amenia.

Wolcott Scrappers 19   Torrington Thunder 1

The scrap secured their second win in a row with a 19-1 victory over Torrington at Fuessenich Park. Between all the bloops and a few decent swings, the scrap collected 23 hits, definitely a team record. Overall, 9 different scrappers had multi-hit games, led by Carson Lentini’s 5-5 on 3 hours of sleep. Joe Dunne continued his 1 game tear by going 3-4 but didn’t realize you could run to second base and passed up on 3 potential doubles. Jon Diogostine got off MLB The Show to go 2-2 with a bases-clearing triple, and Nate Yachtis went 2-2 in his first live ABs in years.
Alec Ash got the start for the scrap and was highly efficient through 6, giving up 1 run and striking out 4. Nate Ehmer snagged 2 Ks in the 7th to close the game out.
Torrington had 9 hits on the day, led by Eli Wall’s 3. Yadiel Santana had a double and John Garcia had 2 hits and a triple for Torrington. Melvin Alvarez also collected two hits.
