Wednesday July 9

Amenia Monarchs 7  Tri-Town Trojans 5

Monarchs beat Tri-Town 7-5 on a humid night in Amenia. The Trojans would get on the board early with rbi single by Ethan Hibbard.  Amenia would come back with a 5 spot in the first with some walks and an rbi single by Zach Carroll. Trojans would answer in the third when Monarchs  starter Sammy “Drum” Rigolino (Winning Pitcher)  would struggle giving 4 runs to make it a 5-5 game after three. In the fourth Amenia would break the tie after an RBI single by Nick Reilly would give Amenia the lead and a groundout by Calab McCaul would extend the lead. Colby Dunlop would come in to get the final 9 outs in ten batters striking out 5.

CT Sliders 6   Naugatuck White Sox 0

The sliders defeated the Naugatuck white sox 6-0 (called after 6 innings due to rain) Wednesday night . The sliders were led by great pitching from Ian glover who gave up one hit over six innings fanning 9. Offensively Josh Dobratz added three hits and Ryan glover added two hits. For Naugatuck, Julio pastrana punched a line drive single to break up the no hitter in the early innings.

Thursday July 10

Bethlehem Plowboys 2   Amenia Monarchs 1

Both teams were strong on the bump on Thursday, but the Plow defeated Amenia 2-1. Bethlehem opened the scoring in the first after Ryan Ponte hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. The next run was provided by Ponte again, hitting a long home run in the top of the 4th and that’s all the run support the team needed. Jason Johnson began the game for Bethlehem Plowboys. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking three. Brodie Rothjen began the game for Amenia Monarchs. The pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking four. Carsten Donovan tossed two innings of scoreless ball to close out the game. The reliever gave up one hit, striking out two and walking none. Donovan, Ponte, and Jesse Swartout each collected one hit for Bethlehem Plowboys. Nate Cormier stole two bases. Zach Carroll led Amenia Monarchs with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Carroll, Matt Damon, Colby Dunlop, Nick Reilly, and Gavyn Queen each collected one hit for Amenia Monarchs.

The Plow will look to go Duck hunting on Sunday as they take on the Valley Ducks.

CT Sliders 4  Canton Crushers 3

The sliders defeated the crushers 4-3 in a tight game at washington Park Thursday night. The scoring got going in the second when a leadoff single by ian glover and a defensive miscue set up a perfect sac bunt by Ben richardson followed by a line drive single from Joe Dicrosta . The veteran player coach Pat Raymond tacked on another in the fourth with a solo shot to right field making it 3-0. The crushers were held in check most of the night by Henry Marino scattering 4 hits over 6+ innings of work. A couple walk and defensive miscue in the field in the sixth followed by a single by Jack Rose plated two for the crushers. The sliders added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with another dicrosta single, a walk to Josh Dobratz, a fielder’s choice and a wild pitch allowed dicrosta to score making it 4-2 going to the final frame. The crushers loaded the bases the seventh via walk and HBP. An RBI fielder’s choice by Alec Unraro made it 1st and 3rd 4-3 with the tying run on second. Closer Ben richardson was able to induce a ground out to Pat Raymond who was able to make the play and send the sliders home happy. The sliders improve to 9-4 and look to keep the three game win streak going Saturday at Amenia.

Wolcott Scrappers 6   Valley Ducks  4  (8 innings)

The Wolcott Scrappers once again came from behind late, scoring 1 in the 7th to tie the game then 4 in the 8th and went on to defeat the Valley Ducks 6-4 in the only regular season subway series game. Alex James once again was a huge part of the story for the Scrap leading off the seventh with his 3rd hit of the game(including a double), stealing 2nd, advancing to third on a chopper to short, then scoring the tying run on a wild pitch. Carson Lentini and Aj Martinez each had two run singles in the 8th to give the Scrap a 4 run lead, which was needed when the Ducks rallied for 2 in the bottom of the 8th only to be snuffed out by Scrap righthander Mike McCormack; who got the final 2 outs via strikeout and pop out to preserve the win.
The Dunne brothers combined for 5 hits for the victors, with Joe getting 3(yes, you read that correctly) and Josh adding 2.  Lentini picked up the win getting out of a jam in the 7th.
For the Ducks Steve Harrison, Nick Forino, Ryan Shiel, Ty Pelletier and Donny Ek all had hits. Steve Marinaro pitched well scattering 11 hits but only allowing 2 runs. He was aided by great defense from his infield.

New Haven Ravens 8   Naugatuck White Sox 4

Luis pagan and Miky Almonte  collected three hits in four at bats, back to back, as New Haven Ravens defeated White Sox 8-4. Luis Pagan n Almonte doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning. White Sox were the first to get on the board in the first when Aiden Venable hit into a double play, but one run scored. Wiliam Diaz singled to center field, which helped New Haven Ravens tie the game at one in the top of the third. A single by Luis Rodriguez gave White Sox the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third. New Haven Ravens took the lead in the top of the sixth. Almonte doubled, scoring two runs, to give New Haven Ravens the edge, 3-2. White Sox took the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to singles by Victor Rivera, and Chris Cancel. New Haven Ravens flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 8-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Ramon Martinez that drove in one. Caisy Krenicki earned the win for New Haven Ravens. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and three runs over six innings, striking out 11 and walking four. Venable took the loss for White Sox. The starter went seven innings, giving up eight runs on 13 hits, striking out five and walking eight. Jeremy Ossa stepped on the bump first for New Haven Ravens. The pitcher gave up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking one.
