July 27 Final

Burlington Hunters 2   Valley Kraken 1

The Burlington Hunters get back in the win column in a close one, beating the Valley Kraken 2-1 in the battle of the baby blue and navy. Taylor Donofrio earned the win on the mound throwing a complete game surrendering just 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 7.  The Hunters were led offensively by Sean O’Donnell and Jheremi Rosado who both had multi-hit days, Zack Martin reached base three times with 1 single and two walks.

The Hunters got the scoring started early when Sean O’Donnell led the game off with a triple.  After Andrew Bunger was useless and popped up to second, Josue Sway Lopez finally did something productive and hit a ground ball to third that allowed O’Donnell to score.  The Kraken would respond when John Coniglio singled to lead off the bottom of the 4th.  Aj Romaniello would later double to drive in the tying run.  In the top of the 5th the Hunters would retake the lead when Zack Rinkavage would somehow score from second on a Sean O’Donnell infield single.  Donofrio would buckle down after that and finish the game holding the lead despite Josh Taylor’s best efforts to blow the lead providing zero defense from short.

Game Highlights: Before the game Josh Taylor making his season debut proclaimed “something special is about to happen.”; and indeed it did. Taylor would go on to make more errors at short than balls he put in play at the plate.
