June 23 Final

Burlington Hunters 11   Torrington Thunder 2

The Burlington Hunters defeated the Torrington Thunder 11-2 on a scorching hot evening at Fuessenich Park.  Despite trying to set a record for most full counts reached in a Tri-State game, Tim Krol led the way on the mound for the Hunters logging 6 innings in the win, striking out 11 while surrendering just 2 runs on 2 hits.  Torrington took an early lead thanks to a Kyle Green sac fly after Rob Anton led the game off with a single and stole both second and third.  In the 3rd the Hunters would respond with the bats putting up 6 runs and did not look back after that.  The Hunters were led offensively by Alex Rauso and Zack Rinkavage who both had multi-hit days, Andrew Bunger and Justin McCulloch both drove in 2 runs each, George Zaruba belted a long double that just missed being a home run and Chad Lavelle reached base 4 times scoring 3 runs.

Game Highlights:

George Zaruba was once again on time for first pitch, Torrington left fielder Ryan Green made a couple nice plays in left field refusing to let Justin McCulloch get a hit, and Andrew Bunger made his first appearance on the mound of the 2025 season and this “fast” ball topped out at 58 MPH.
