Valley Kraken 3   Wolcott Scrappers 1

Ryan Bohrman led the Kraken to victory over the Scrappers on Thursday in pitchers dual. Bohrman went all 7 innings striking out 7 while only letting up 5 hits and 1 run (0 earned) on only 29 batters faced. The Kraken started off strong, scoring 2 runs in the first and 1 in the second. The Scrappers pitching staff answered back with no more runs allowed the rest of the game. The Scrappers bats were stunned until the 4th inning where they scored their first and only run of the game. The Kraken offense was led by Braydon Stellato (2-3 with 1 run scored), Zach Mars (1-3 with an RBI), and Aidan Kane (1-3 with 1 run scored). The Scrappers offense struggled except for Alex James who went 2-3 at the plate. The Kraken’s solid effort on offense and defense enabled the Kraken to keep the 3-1 win over the Scrappers. Offensive Performance: Kraken Braydon Stellato: 2-3, 1 run scored, 1 stolen base Zach Mars: 1-3 with 1 RBI Aidan Kane: 1-3 with 1 run scored

Canton Crushers 7  Winsted Whalers 5  (8 innings)

Angel Christiano earned the win for Crushers. Canton’s sneaky pitcher  gave up 8 hits over 7 innings striking out 2 and walking 2.  Robert Weiss started for Whalers.  Weiss gave up 4 hits and 1 run over 5 innings, striking out 2 and walking 4  Jake “Juicy Snake” Bryant collected the save for the Crushers.

Chet “Steadman”Warner and Johnny Lippincott lead the way at the plate for the whalers both going 2-3 on the day. Lippincott hit a solo blast in the 5th inning , tennis players in right field watched in watched in awe as the ball flew over the courts. Alec Varano and Ben Sullivan both had multiple hits for the Crushers  Jackson Senecal’s RBI single broke the tie in the 8th inning fallowed by a clutch double from Varano extending the Crushers lead. The Crushers are back at it on Saturday at Noon hosting the New Haven Ravens for the first time at Bowdoin field.

Bethlehem Plowboys 7   CT Sliders 2

Bethlehem Plowboys were victorious against Ct sliders 7-2 on Thursday. Bethlehem Plowboys were the first to get on the board in the first when Ryan Ponte grounded out, scoring two runs. Bethlehem Plowboys added one run in the second. Jarrett Michaels doubled down the right field line, making the score 3-1. Bethlehem Plowboys scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by Jesse Swartout. Kyle Banche earned the win for Bethlehem Plowboys. The pitcher allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking one. Ian Glover took the loss for Ct sliders. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking one.

Nate Cormier went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bethlehem Plowboys in hits. Ponte and Swartout each drove in two runs for Bethlehem Plowboys. Bethlehem Plowboys turned one triple play in the game. Bethlehem Plowboys turned one double play in the game. Ray Campbell led Ct sliders with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Pat Raymond led Ct sliders with two hits in three at bats. Bethlehem Plowboys face the New Haven Ravens for their next game on Monday.

ALERT: In the top of the 5th with the sliders threatening in a 4-2 game with runners on first and third, the Plowboys (more like Isaiah Johnson) turned a triple play! A line drive to the glove, step on the bag at the third, and a dart to first base to double off the runners ended the inning! And to end the game, Kyle Banche scrambled off the mound and made a throw from his knees to first to get the final out and cap off a well pitched complete game!

Amenia Monarchs 7 New Haven Ravens 6

Monarchs get back in the win column with a 7-6 win over the New Haven Ravens. Monarchs would score three runs in the first and four in the second. Brodie Rathjen would get the win for the monarchs as the righty went six innings giving up 2 runs 1 earned and striking out 6 and walking 2. Ravens would threaten big time in the top of the seventh scoring 4 runs. A bases load ground ball by Miky Almonte (2-4) would almost be a game ending double play when Laundry dropped the ball at first but threw the ball home to get the tying run out at the plate to end the game. Aiden Hartwell (2-2) Brennan Laundry (2-3) Matt Damon (2-4) Colby Dunlop would go 2-3 (3RBI) with 2 doubles and would get the save facing one batter. Damon, Hartwell, and Laundry would all have doubles on the day. Amenia host Naugatuck on Tuesday. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!!!
