Winsted Whalers 8 Torrington Thunder 3 (5 innings)
Win or lose, playing at Fuessenich is always a great time. With very sketchy weather on the horizon, the Thunder would push to get the game in against the Whale. Johnny Lippincott, first pitch, first swing, would pull the ball to right field for a solo HR. The Whale offense would not let up with Lukas Gryniuk following soon after with an RBI double, TJ Kent with an RBI single, Henry Martin with an RBI single, Mitchell Gryniuk with an RBI single, and Lippincott getting up again and poking an RBI double to right center field. Soon there were 8 runs tacked on. Torrington would control the bleeding and bring in Jayden Dombrowski who wouldn’t let a run for the rest of the game. Josh Hammel on the mound for the Whale, would throw a competitive game, going 5 IP, 9Ks, 9 Walks, allowing only 2 hits and 1 ER. Mitchell Gryniuk and Mark Cummings decided to keep their stat line of 1 error per game which would lead to another 2 runs for Torrington. The game would get called off due to rain after the 5th. Final Score: 8-3 Whale win.
