Thunder Ducks 5 Bethlehem Plowboys 4
Thunder Ducks stole the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Bethlehem Plowboys on Sunday. The game was tied at three with Thunder Ducks batting in the top of the tenth when Ryan Pelletier doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. In the second inning, Bethlehem Plowboys got their offense started. Campbell hit a solo homer. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Bethlehem Plowboys tied things up at three when Michaels’s sac fly scored one run for Bethlehem Plowboys. Ducks scored three runs in the seventh inning. Ducks batters contributing to the big inning included Alex Mentone and Matt Kozlowski, all driving in runs in the inning. Ryan Pelletier got the win for Ducks. The righthander went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out four. Zach Royka threw six innings in relief out of the bullpen. Kozlowski started the game for Ducks. Kozlowski surrendered one run on one hit over two innings, striking out one and walking zero Ducks racked up 11 hits. Kyle Daddona, Pelletier, and Ryan Shiel all had multiple hits for Ducks. Shiel, Pelletier, and Daddona all had two hits to lead Ducks.
Bethlehem Plowboys had six hits in the game. Rickey D and Campbell all collected multiple hits for Bethlehem Plowboys.
Southington Gamecocks 5 Blasius Chevrolet 3
On a beautiful summer morning the Southington Gamecocks extended their streak with a win over Blasius. Southington struck first in the 3rd with a leadoff single by Angel Torres (2-2,2BB,2R) a walk to Peterson and an RBI single by Kyle Simpson. Blasius tied it at 1 in the 5th after a double by Goggin a passed ball and a groundout scored him. The Gamecocks answered quickly in the 6th with a 2 out rally. Brenden Cavaco (2-4, R) singled, AJ Lorenzetti (2-3 BB,R) and Torres walked and Nick Crocker took a HBP before Peterson delivered a 2R single. Blasius would not go away though getting 2 back in a chaotic bottom half. After the bases loaded a ground ball got a force out at second and a runner caught in a run down stemmed the bleeding. Southington would score 1 more in the 7th on back-to-back doubles by Raymond (2-5, 2B,R) and Fernandez to make it 5-3. Mike Danisevich “the fireballer”, pitched 5 strong surrendering 1 run for the Gamecocks while Cavaco was able to hold the lead for the final 4 innings and pick up the Win. For Blasius Goggin and Carosella had 2 hits, and Harrison had a double. The Gamecocks look to keep things rolling at Canton Tuesday evening
Burlington Hunters 9 Canton Crushers 1
The Hunters are finally back in the winning column after beating the Canton Crushers 9-1. Alec Couture picked up the win throwing 6 innings, allowing 1 unearned run, 13 Ks, and only surrendering 2 hits. The Hunters were led offensively by Joe Cardaropoli (yes you read that correctly, still can’t believe it) who drove in 2 runs with a double and a base hit, and Christopher Rossi, who also drove in 2 runs. Mike Sullivan was the main contributor for the Crushers, driving in a run on a base.
Other highlights: Joe Cardaropoli did not pop out in the infield for the first time in 7 games; Zack Martin scored from second for the first time in 6 years; Ty Morin did not make an error for the first time all year, progress!; Joe Tonon set a Tri-State record by being the shortest player to play both 3rd and Shortstop in a game; and Tyler Doyle kept an amazing book IN PEN, giving Hunter legend Bob O-Pedic Hansen a run for his money.

Winsted Whalers 4 Amenia Monarchs 3
The “in the past” Whale was known for losing most of their games, blowing leads, and being scarce on pitching/hitting. Those issues being resolved, the Whale had to take on a new identity. They decided to adopt the “give up runs in the first inning” and “try to win games in the last inning with walk offs.” Amenia vs Winsted, two teams who can hit and have great pitching faced off in an extra inning game. On the mound for Winsted was veteran Robert Weiss and for Amenia it was Mike Cipriano. Starting off, the Whale would give up a run with Tyler Smith singling, stealing a base and Will Perotti with an RBI single to put them up 1-0. The second inning, Amenia’s Andrew Thrasher would start off the inning with a single and through a couple of batters, Tyler Smith would 2RBI single, making it a 3-0 game. After this point, Amenia would not score any more runs. Robert Weiss would hold Amenia’s impressive offense and go 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 Hits, and 6Ks. It was another Weiss day and Robert’s brother, Ryley Weiss, would come in for relief. I don’t know what these guys ate as children, but boy can they pitch. Ryley would hold the Amenia team, even in extras with a guy starting at second, to no runs. Going 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 Hits, 4K, and making an unbelievable diving play to stop a suicide squeeze, he would pick up the win; I guess pitchers can be athletes. As per the Whale offense, they did not have much more luck than Amenia did. Mike Cipriano pitched a great game going 6IP, 3ER, 10 hits, and 7Ks. It was only one inning where the Whale would score their three runs with Mitchell Gryniuk getting a leadoff single, Johnny Lippincott with a single, Ricky Langer with an RBI single, Bryce Taglialatella with an RBI double, and Austin Brochu with an RBI fielders’ choice. Going into extras, Colby Dunlop would basically shut down the Winsted offense for almost 3 innings. In the bottom of the 12th, with a runner on second, Austin Brochu stepped up to the occasion and knocked a punch single down the left field line to score the man on second. Another walk off win for the Whale. Final score Whale 4- Monarchs 3.
Brass City Vipers 7 Torrington Twisters 3
The vipers improve to 3-4 with a 7-3 win against the Twisters. Joevonni Torres would pitch 6 innings allowing 1 hit on 5 ks. Dave colella would come in a jam bases loaded for the vipers in the 7th and escape the inning only giving up 1 run. The Castro brothers ( Cristian and John ) would get things started offensively in the 3rd for the vipers with a lead off double by Christian and john bunting for a single. Both would score in the inning. Branden Casanova hit a home run in the 4th. The vipers would get a 2 out rally started in the 5th with a triple by josh bologh scoring 2 then a homer by Dave colella to bring him in!
