Burlington Hunters 11 Winsted Whalers 0
The Burlington Hunters defeated the Winsted Whalers 11-0 thanks to another strong performance on the mound from Derek Duffy. The Hunter starter in 6 innings would surrender 0 runs, and scatter 3 hits while striking out 11. Taylor Donofrio pitched a scoreless 7th inning to complete the shutout. In the top of the first Jake Rinkavage would deliver a RBI single and the Hunters would not look back from there. Offensively the Hunters were led by Team Puerto Rico; Josue Sway Lopez (2H, 2B, 2RBI), and Jheremi Rosado (2H, 2B, 3RBI, R). Chad Lavelle also had a big day; he was a triple short of the cycle tallying 3 hits including a long 2-Run home run into the tennis courts at Walker Field. For the Whale Mark Cummings did it all, starting on the mound grinding through 5 innings and also led off the bottom of the first with a hard hit double. TJ Kent and Owen McMahon also collected hits for the Whale. The Hunters are back in action tomorrow taking on the red hot Amenia Monarchs at the Dam, first pitch at Noon.
Game Highlights: With Tim Krol absent from the game, the Hunters did not get picked off a base, Fans confused catcher Chris Rossi for Zack Martin when a few pitches popped out of hit mitt, and finally Sway learned how to read a map after almost missing the game when the GPS brought him too far down the street.
Amenia Monarchs 14 CT Sliders 6
Amenia beat the Sliders with another 14-6 score. Sliders open up early with a 2 run first inning. With the score 4-2 Sliders after five, Aidan Damon would single scoring 1 and Zach Carroll would hit a 2 rbi single to put Monarch’s up one. Sliders would answer with a run to tie the game. Amenia would score 9 more runs the rest of the game. Aidan Damon would get the win going 7 innings with 2 earned runs. Offensively the Monarchs were lead by Colby Dunlop had a 4-4 day with two doubles Aidan Damon was 2-4 with 4 rbis. Keaton “Keto” Terrell would have 2 hits to go along with 3 rbis. Pat Raymond and Ray Campbell would have two hits a piece for the Sliders. Ryan Glover would start for sliders going six innings striking out 9 Monarchs
