July 2 Finals
Burlington Hunters 14 CT Sliders 4
The Burlington Hunters get back on track defeating the CT Sliders 14-4. Tim Krol earned the win on the mound tossing 6 strong innings surrendering 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out 8. Andrew Hinckley smacked a 2-run home run to get the scoring started for the Hunters. George Zaruba, Tim Krol, and Steve Caruso (3 hit day) all drove in multiple runs; Even Josue Sway Lopez was productive and drove in a run, finally. For the Sliders Ryan Montini had a three hit day including an RBI double, and Ray Campbell had a multi-hit day including a solo shot over Sway’s head who couldn’t even give Krol a courtesy jog. Slider shortstop Ty Giambra also made a web-gem to rob Zaruba of a base hit.
Game Highlights: A vintage Krol performance on the mound who loaded the bases 3 times to pitch his way out of it each time, Third Base coach Jay Pelletier did his best Michael Jackson impression avoiding a sharp foul ball hit by Hinckley, and Andrew Bunger set a Tri-State record for slowest “fast”ball to record an out clocked at 48 MPH.
Wolcott Scrappers/Amenia Monarchs
The Wolcott Scrappers defeated the Amenia Monarchs 6-1, in a game full of miscues, to improve to 10-3 on the season. A quintet of Scrap pitchers combined on a 4 hitter with 8k’s led by Ben Bianchi’s 4 innings of 2 hit no run ball. David Cardinale got the final 3 outs by striking out the side. The Scrap got on the board in the 2nd inning on a leadoff double by Dilllon Fernandez and a 1 out triple by Joe Sconziano. Sconziano then scored on a sac fly by Josh Dunne. Josh Dunne, Nick Sconziano, and Ben Bianchi(double) all had hits for the Scrappers. Fernandez and AJ Martinez each scored twice for Wolcott. The Monarchs were led on the bmp by Brodie Rathjen who pitched a complete game 5 hitter. Nick Reilly, Rich Lamping, Luke Blackburn and Keaton Terrell all had hits.
