Bethlehem Plowboys 13 New Haven Ravens 8
Isaiah Johnson collected four hits in four at bats, as Bethlehem Plowboys defeated New Haven Ravens 13-8 on Monday at Municipal Stadium. Johnson singled in the second inning, singled in the fifth inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
The Plow collected 18 hits and New Haven Ravens had nine in the high-scoring affair. Bethlehem got on the board in the first inning after Jesse Swartout doubled, scoring one run.
The team added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Johnson singled, scoring two runs, Dylan Chung grounded out, scoring one run, and Johnson scored after tagging up. Another added one run in the third after Matt Mancini singled down the left field line. New Haven Ravens tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a single by Miky Almonte, and an error. In the top of the fifth, Bethlehem broke up the tie when Nate Cormier singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Johnson followed to extend the lead to 9-6.
Jason Johnson began the game for Bethlehem Plowboys. The righty surrendered four hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three. Ronnie Laconto led things off on the mound for New Haven Ravens. striking out four and walking four. Matt Sibilia and Tyler Duffy each appeared in relief for Bethlehem Plowboys. Ryan Ponte, Cormier, Jarrett Michaels, Swartout, and Matt Palumbo each collected multiple hits for Bethlehem Plowboys.
New Haven Ravens amassed nine hits in the game. Almonte and Bobby Biengivengo were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for New Haven Ravens. Almonte provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led New Haven Ravens with three runs batted in. The catcher went 3-for-4 on the day. New Haven Ravens turned one double play in the game.
The Plow will travel to Wolcott Scrappers for their next game on Wednesday.
