Friday June 6
Valley Ducks 5 New Haven Ravens 2
Ducks win in electric fashion- 5-2 over the New Haven Ravens in extras.
Chris Oliwa got the start for the Quack tonight going 5, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, while striking 9. Casey Krenicki started for the Ravens allowing 1 run, on 5 hits, over 7 innings while striking out 8. The captain Ty Pelletier opened up the scoring in the 4th for the Ducks with an rbi single after Steve Harrison hit a triple. The little lefties produced. New Haven would tie the game in the top of the 7th- down to their last strike with an rbi single by Denis Marerro. It was his second hit of the game. After an error moved the go ahead run to third in the top of the 8th, Miky Almonte hit a go ahead sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the 8th, Brandon Spadolino laid down a bunt single that also Jamie Coen to third and proceeded to steal second. Oliwa would reach on a catchers interference to load the bases for Big Nick Forino. Stage set. Nick promptly unloaded the bases and ended the game with one swing, hitting an absolute tank of a walkoff grand slam. What a moment in Ducks history- the first walkoff since the inception of the Thunder/Thunderducks/Ducks in 2015 (possibly the first walk off grand slam in CT Tri State History? Need the historians to do research).
