Valley Kraken 8 Winsted Whalers 7 (11 innings)
Valley Kraken got out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and held on for an 8-7 (11-inning) win over the Winsted Whalers. The Whalers came back to force extras tying it in the ninth inning at 7-7. In the top of the 11th inning Valley’s Miles Pokrinchak threw out the go-ahead run at the plate from left field for the last out of the inning to hype up the Kraken bats. In the bottom of that inning, Braydon Stellato was able to drive in Jake Coniglio with the winning run on an infield hit to second base. Ryan Bohrman came in from the pen to pitch 7 innings and captured the win for the Kraken. Strong team performance from the Kraken to start the season off in the win column. For Kraken- Brayden Stellato was 3-5, 1 RBI, 1 walk and Jake Coniglio was 2-4, 1 triple, 3 RBI, 4 Runs scored, 2 walks. Valley received a strong pitching performance from Ryan Bohrman who faced 32 batters over 7 full innings, scattering 10 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), with 10 strikeouts and 1 walk. Winsted left 8 runners on base in the first 7 innings. For the Whalers – Mitchell Gryniuk was 3-5, 1 Run, 1 walk and Peter Greenwood was 2-4, 1 double, 2 RBI, 1 walk.
Wolcott Scrappers 15 Naugatuck White Sox 2
The Scrappers offense was led by Drew Rocca with a home run, single and 3rbi. Carson Lentini with 2 hits, rbi and 3 runs scored. Josh Dunne with 2 hits, 2rbi and a run scored. Alec Ash, 4 innings 7ks, combined with relievers Logan Szep, Nate Ehmer and Blake Stone to lead the pitching. Naugy was led by Matty Venable and Fernando Soriano with 2 hits each.
Tri-Town Trojans 7 Burlington Hunters 1
Reigning Cy Young Miles Scribner’s strong start propelled the Trojans to a 7-1 victory over Burlington Sunday in Litchfield. Scribner struck out five without allowing a run in five innings of work. Cooper Johnson and Danny McCarty led the offense with two hits each, while Coleby Bunnell, Brad Ellis and Bryon Carr each had a hit and an RBI. Justin Emanuel and Connor Gannon combined for seven strikeouts while each throwing two innings in relief. Chad Lavelle recorded a double while Andrew Hinckley had an RBI single. Andrew Bunger, Tim Krol and Josue Lopez each had a hit.
Bethlehem Plowboys 12 Torrington Thunder 2
Plowboys take the home opener over the Thunder as Austin Brown, Ty Boisvert, and Kyle Banche all went 3 innings a piece, combining for 13 strikeouts and only allowing 2 earned runs on 11 hits. Ty Harkness carried the big stick for the Plow in the 10 hole going 2-4 with a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 6th. Nate Cormier was 2-5 on the day with 2 RBI and 3 stolen bases. Freddie Camp made his plowboy debut as well going 2-2 with 3 RBI. Ryan Ponte also went 3-4 with a triple and a double and 2 RBI. The Thunder bats were lead by Tristan Ciarlo who was 1-4 with an RBI single in the 4th followed by a Chase Brown RBI single in the same inning. Ryan Green started off strong for the Thunder going 3 innings striking out 6. Brown, Green, and Sam Scott had 2 hits each in the game. The Thunder also turned two double plays in the game. The Plowboys take on the Quack next Tuesday.
Amenia Monarchs 13 Canton Crushers 0
Monarchs start the 2025 season off with a win against Canton as Sammy Rigolino started the game on the mound and went 5 innings before having to leave for his grandmas’ birthday party. Richie Lamping started his season off with a home run to left center. Amenia would tack on 5 runs in the second to extend the lead. Lamping and Aiden Damon would have 3 hits to lead Amenia. Four other starters would each have 2 hits a piece. Monarchs finished with 17 hits on the day. Jake Bryant had 3 hits and Jimmy Spirito had 2 hits for Canton.
CT Sliders 11 Valley Ducks 4
The sliders defeated the valley ducks 11-4 in a cloudy season opener. The scoring began in the second when back to back hits by Ryan montini (3-5 3R) and Kyle Simpson reached base via singles were followed by a defensive miscue that allowed 2 runs to score. The sliders got back on the board in the third when a leadoff walk to Pat Smith(1-3) was followed by a 2 run home run by Ray Campbell and further added on with a Luke Sokolski single followed by a Simpson (4-5 HR , 2B) home run. The sliders were lead by Henry Marino on the mound who scattered one run over 5 innings of work . Ryan glover and Hunter Simpson were able to hold things down the rest of the way. The ducks were lead by Chris Oliwa who added two hits and a double, Steve Harrison with an rbi single Ty Pelletier with multiple innings of effective relief. The sliders look to continue momentum after their first 1-0 start since 2022.
