Tuesday July 23 Finals

Amenia Monarchs 7   CT Sliders 6   9 innings

 Monarchs win extra inning thriller with big match with Sliders.

Sliders would strike first, plating 2 runs in the first off Amenia starter Zach Spencer. Spencer would settle in, throwing an efficient 6 innings on only 70 pitches. Monarchs would take the lead in the second on a RBI Double by Spencer and a 2 RBI Single by Matt Damon. The lead would last until the 5th when Josh Dobratz and Pat Raymond hit back to back home runs with 2 outs to give the Sliders a 4-3 lead. Monarchs would answer back in the bottom of the fifth to tie and would have the bases loaded and no one out in the seventh but were unable to get the winning run across. 

 In extras, the two teams would trade runs until the ninth when Amenia tied the game on a walk and would get across the winning run on a wild pitch. Leading the way was Matt Damon (3-5 3 RBI) Colby Dunlop (2-3 2BB) and Richie Lamping (2-4 1 RBI)

Winsted Whalers 6   Canton Crushers 2

The Whale vs the Crushers, turned into a game of limiting errors and walks. Jay Torres started for the Whale and Tanner Quinn for the Crushers. Jay Torres would go the full 7 innings, only allowing 4 Hits, 2 ER, and 7 BB/HPB. Of the 4 hits allowed, Noah Asmar would have 3 of those going 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. Tanner Quinn going 4 IP, would only let 1 Hit, 2 ER, and 9 BB/HPB. Jake Bryant would finish the next 2 innings with zeros across the board. The whole night, the Whale offense would only get one legitimate hit and that would be by their SS, TJ Kent. With a combined total of 16 walks from both teams and fielding errors, the final score would conclude at 6-2, Whale win.

Valley Kraken 3    Torrington Thunder 1

A game of pitching, this game was led by the Krakens Aiden Hefele and the Thunders Sam Scott. Hefele earned the win, pitching 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, one run (zero earned), and striking out one. The definition of let your fielders do the work. Scott went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and striking out 3. The offense came alive for both teams in the 7th inning, but the game was called for safety due to darkness in the bottom of the seventh.
