Sunday July 21
Bethlehem Plowboys 8 Valley Ducks 1
The Plowboys went Duck hunting Sunday in Bethlehem and came away with an 8-1 victory. Keegan Daigle got the start going 4 strong allowing 1 hit by Nick Forino in the 4th, striking out 6, Brett Wilkes, Dan Keckler and Matt Sibilia would all pitch in relief, allowing 4 hits to keep the quack grounded. Jon Conlon, Matt Mancini, and Jarrett Michaels all hit home runs to provide the Plow pitchers with some much needed run support in the 4th inning. Mancini would also knock in an insurance run in the 8th. Nick Forino had 2 hits on the day and Steve Harrison had the RBI single in the ninth for the Ducks. Brett Davino showed up fashionably late and struck out in his only pinch hit appearance to ruin his 5 game on base streak. Kyle Daddona kept the Plow bats at bay out of the pen, throwing 4 innings not allowing a run and only letting up 3 hits.
CT Sliders 5 Burlington Hunters 4
The sliders won narrowly Sunday defeating the Burlington hunters 5-4 at municipal stadium. The sliders were aided in large part by the pitching efforts of Hunter Simpson allowing 1 ER through 4 innings and Ryan glover giving up 2 ER through 5 innings in relief. The sliders got the scoring going in the second with base hits by Tyler Fernandes , Ryan montini , and Kyle simpson (3-4) plating two runs. The hunters responded in the fourth with a double from sway Lopez followed by a walk by George zaruba and a Krol RBI single to even the score 2-2. The sliders were at it again in the fourth with singles from montini , Joe dicrosta, and Simpson putting them back on top 4-2. Eventually the sliders tacked on another run, Burlington chipped away at the lead getting it all the way to 5-4 with long xbh from krol and Morin, even getting the tying run to third base before being cut down trying to score with the infield in and a game saving catch from David Colella. The sliders were able to put the hunters away with the tying run on in the ninth and seal the win. They look to keep the momentum Tuesday night in a battle for seeding in Amenia.
