Thursday July 11 Finals

Amenia Monarchs 3  Valley Kraken 0

Monarchs get the win in New Milford in a close game against the Kraken. Monarchs jumped on the board quickly in the first inning after a rbi single by Richie Lamping. The score remain 1-0 thru 5 innings as Amenia starter Alex Marino would keep the Kraken scoreless in 5 innings giving up just 2 hits. Monarchs would score again in top of the 6th when The Dragon Colby Dunlop would remember how to hit the ball hard and far as he would put a ball in the trees in center field that would score 2 runs. Zach Spencer would pitch the last 2 innings to get the save for the Monarchs. Great fun game. Game highlights include Matt Damon going 3-3 but forgetting the amount of outs needed to end an inning. It’s okay we’ll remind you next time. Colby Dunlop 2-3 Home run 2rbis

CT Sliders 9  Wolcott Scrappers 4

The sliders defeated the wolcott scrappers 9-4 on a warm evening at Washington park. The scrappers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a home run off the bat of Devin Fuegen . The sliders responded with two runs of their own with back to back doubles from Josh Dobratz and Ty fernandes to start the game eventually tying it at 2-2 on defensive miscues. The sliders then took the lead plating 4 two out runs starting with a single from Pat Smith followed by a few walks and a single by David Colella. The scrappers responded to cut the lead to 6-4 lead by singles from Fuegen and Nate Yachter. Ian glover stepped up and and locked down the scrappers attack to finish a complete game with ten strikeouts. The scrappers look to continue the momentum down the stretch

Burlington Hunters 9   Winsted Whalers 2

The Burlington Hunters secure their 12th victory of the season by defeating the Winsted Whale 9-2. thanks to solid defense and some more Hawk Tuah magic. Taylor “The Jerk” Donofrio grabbed the win on the mound surrendering 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4 in 5 innings of work.  He could have went the distance, but Donofrio is a slow pitch softball superhero and left early to make his game.  The Hunters put up 5 runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back from there.  The Hunter offense was led by Chad Lavelle tallying 2 doubles and 2 runs, Josue Sway Lopez who was once again drilled and scored 3 different times (opposing teams say there’s just something hittable about his face), and Tim Krol who had 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Game Highlights include: George Zaruba continues to not be able to hit a home run, team officials suggest he could afford to add on some muscle and have hired him a personal trainer named Chad Lavelle; Sway had to leave the postgame early in order to catch the end of the Connecticut Sun game that he recorded on his TiVo at home, the man loves fundamentals; Hunter and Tri-State legend Brian O’Leary was in attendance as a spectator, but somehow found a way to get hit by a pitch and increase his league record; and finally Tim Krol did is best to break a Lewis Mills High School window with a long four ball, but fortunately he too is not as strong as Chad Lavelle.
