Sunday June 23 Finals

Valley Ducks 5   Winsted Whalers 0

The Valley Ducks took down the Winsted Whalers 5-0 in Sunday’s action. Kyle Daddona took the bump for Ducks and he had to battle early as he worked his way out of a 2 on 1 out jamb in the first. The Whale threatened again in the bottom of the third after a leadoff triple by Johnny Lippincott lead to a bases loaded and one out jamb. Daddona got a ground ball to Pelletier at short who spun it quick to Steve Harrison who sent it to first for an inning and threat ending 6-4-3 double play. Tino Ciarlo lead the charge for the Ducks offensively, going 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 rbi- scoring the first run of the game and also creating some insurance late with a 2 run double. Frank Frosceno stayed hot with another 2 hits. Daddona finished with a stat line of 8IP, 1 hit, 6 walks, and 10 k’s. Chris Oliwa closed the game up in the 9th. Lippincott’s triple was Winsted’s only hit of the game as the Quack continue to win with pitching and defense.

Bethlehem Plowboys 12   Amenia Monarchs 0

Plow wins 12-0, Kyle Banche got the start throwing 6 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 6. Dylan Chung was 1-4 with a three run triple in the 3rd inning and Jon Wilson followed that same line with a three run double in the top of the 7th. Jon Conlon was 2-4 and Jesse Swartout was 3-4 with 2 doubles. 39 year old Pat McGee who hasn’t seen a pitch in 5 years went 1-1 with a booming RBI double but forgot to stretch and had to be removed from the game after touching second base.

Burlington Hunters 12  Valley Kraken 6

The Burlington Hunters defeated the Valley Kraken 12-6 in an Opening Day rematch.  Dave “Building Blocks” Alarcon started on the mound for the Hunters and did his best to lose the game.  Taylor Donofrio, throwing 5 innings in relief, stole another win scattering just 2 hits while striking out 5.  With some hawk tuah magic, the Hunters offense collected 19 hits on the day.  Chad Lavelle had a huge game going 4-4 with two doubles and led off the bottom of the 1st with a loud solo shot, Tommaso Tollis had a big 3-run homerun and would not shut up about it, Andrew Bunger (yeah we can’t believe it either) also hit a 2-run home run.  George Zaruba was 3-3 with two doubles, Sean O’Donnell collected 2 hits including a triple, and Josh Jose Sway Lopez also had a multi hit day and a multi strikeout day like a bum.  For the Kraken Aiden Kane delivered 3 hits including a loud double that drove in 2 runs and Miles Pokrinchale hit a loud double off that wall that drove in 2 runs.

Game Highlights include: Dave Alarcon was intimidated by team lucky charm Jobu and struggled to throw strikes; Sway and Zaruba were in tears watching their teammates take the home run lead from them; Chad Lavelle seems to still be feuding with Alarcon and refused to make a routine play for him at third; for the first time all year Sway DID NOT make a baserunning mistake; and finally Team Cowboy Tyler Doyle has gone missing just like Ryan Lavelle.
