Sunday June 9 Finals
Bethlehem at Winsted Whalers – Rained out
Valley Ducks 11 Canton Crushers 4
The Valley Ducks win in style in Sundays action, 11-4 over the Canton Crushers. I’m a game that was tightly contested until the 7th when the Quack exploded for 7 runs. Steve Harrison carried the ducks offensively with a triple and a double and 3 rbi. Chris Oliwa chucked a 9 innings complete game, allowing 2 earned while striking out 10. He also notched 3 hits on the day. Jack Rose hit a no doubt 2 run home run for the crushers.
Burlington Hunters 10 Naugatuck Scorpions 0
The Burlington Hunters beat the Naugatuck Scorpions 10-0 to improve to 4-1. Noah Connor and Tyler Doyle (yes we found him safe and sound, showed up in cowboy boots for some reason? Weird guy…) combined for a 1 hitter on the mound. Connor got the start for the Hunters, taking a perfect game into the 4th inning when he blew it by giving up a single past a diving Ty Morin. Doyle would throw two shut out innings to close it out. Six Hunters had Multi-Hit games to lead the offensive attack ( George Zaruba, Andrew Bunger, Chad Lavelle, Tommaso Tollis, Jheremi Rosado, and Alex Fulco). Josh Jose Sway Lopez, Tommaso Tollis and Chad Lavelle all hit homeruns.
Game highlights include: Most un-athletic play of the day goes to Sway when he tried to steal home and was thrown out by a mile; The Hunters grounds crew led by Lt. Chris Rossi and Ty Morin worked overtime to get the field ready to play; After hitting his homerun Sway had a hard time fitting his head through the dugout doorway and asked if everyone saw how far he hit the ball; Finally, while team officials rejoiced the return of Tyler Doyle, they have lost hope in their search for Ryan Lavelle assuming the worst.
CT Sliders 12 Torrington Thunder 5
The sliders picked up a win 12-5 on what was a beautiful night in Torrington after the rain passed. The sliders got scoring going early with an 8 run first capped off by an rbi double by Ryan glover . The slider offense was led by Pat smith (5 hits) Josh Dobratz (3 hits 2 2B) and Ray Campbell (2 hits 2B) . Ian glover went 7 strong allowing 3 runs striking out 4. Torrington had offensive contributions from green with 3 line drive base hits as well as a long triple from Duncan
Amenia Monarchs 4 Wolcott Scrappers 3
Amenia wins a close one 4-3 in Wolcott. Monarchs started Aiden Damon on the mound who went 5.1 innings giving up 3 runs 2 earned through a brief rain delay. While down 3-0 in top of 7th inning the Monarchs were able to put up 4 runs. With bases loaded Calab McCaul would get Amenia on the board with an infield single and a Brennan Laundry walk would score another. With bases loaded Nick Reilly would hit a 2 RBI single to put Amenia up 4-3. Score would stay the same as Colby Dunlop got the last 8 outs for the Monarchs with 7ks.
Wolcott would have 9 hits on the day as Nick Scoziano and Carson Lentini would each have 2 hits. Jon Diogastine, Josh Dunne and Logan Szep would each have RBI.
Monarchs take on the Valley Ducks Thursday night in Amenia.
