Burlington Hunters 10   Canton Crushers 4

On a perfect day for baseball at Bowdoin Field the Burlington Hunters defeated the Canton Crushers 10-4.  The Hunters started the scoring in the first inning thanks to a two-run double hit by George Zaruba.  After the first inning Canton starter James Michanczyk would settle in and quiet the Hunter bats over the next few innings.  Alex Stackpole got the start on the mound for the Hunters and had a no-hitter going until Jake Bryant delivered a 2-run homer to help the Crushers take the lead.  After some back and forth the game would be tied 4-4 going into the final frame.  The Hunters would load the bases and Ryan Lavelle would clear the bases with a loud double to put the Hunters ahead.  The Hunters would continue to add a few more insurance runs in the inning.  Taylor Donofrio working his third inning in relief would close the door in the bottom of the 7th.

Fun facts of the game include:  Jobu is 6-1, After moving to Virginia last summer Steve Caruso made his triumphant return to the Hunter’s lineup, and in true Hunter fashion, made 2 errors that led to runs, and finally team officials are still searching for the thief who stole the buttons off of Josue Lopez’s jersey, the Un-sub is being referred to as the “Button Bandit” by local authorities, those with any leads or informations are encouraged to call the hotline 1-800-HELP SWAY.
