Valley Ducks 9 Naugatuck Nightmare 0
NO HITTER ALERT. For the second time in as many nights, there was a no hitter in the CT Tri State Baseball League as Zach Royka tossed the first no hitter in Ducks team history. He struck out 6 and walked two while only throwing 74 pitches. Chris Oliwas went 3-5 with 3 rbi and Nick Forino hit his third home run of the year.
Canton Crushers 1 CT Gamecocks 0
Winsted Whalers 6 Amenia Monarchs 3
Winsted, hoping to climb to out of 7th place, needed a win against Amenia; that is no easy task. The Whale started Jay Torres, #20, on the mound while Amenia started Ken Shufelt. Shufelt would only go one inning and then Zach Spencer would come in and complete a good 6 innings. He did well pitching to 8 out of 9 hitters but Johnny Lippincott was hungry. Lippincott would hit two homeruns, counting for 5 RBIs and go 3-3, 3B, 2xHR, BB. TJ Kent would score the other RBI with a SAC fly. Holding the Monarchs to 6 runs is no easy task but Jay Torres took the job and came through, but in the hardest way possible. Going all 7 innings, he would give up 3 hits, 3ER, and strike out 8. Colby Dunlop would have two of those hits. As for the walks, Jay would have just 5 less than his number in walks; the Whale will be checking to see if it’s a new league record. Final Score: Whale 6 – Amenia 3.
