Bethlehem Plowboys 16  CT Gamecocks 5

Matt Sibilia got the ball going 5 strong innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 7. The Plow bats stayed hot with just like last game every hitter reaching base, Matt Mancini went a cool 4-4 with 5 RBI while Ricky Descoteaux and Joe Rupe reached base 3 times each knocking in 2 runs each as well. Zach Fenn relieved Sibilia, going 2 strong innings to close the door. Jose Fernandez hit a grand slam in the top of the 7th while Pat Raymond reached base twice for the Gamecocks on the day.

Winsted Whalers 12 Burlington Hunters 6

There are teams to beat like TriTown, Bethlehem, and Amenia. This year, Burlington is turning out to be one of those teams as well. Having an 11-4 record going into this game, the Whale needed to bring their A game. What better way to do that than to start Casey Weingart on the mound. Having had a great season so far with a 2.77 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, he would continue to better those stats tonight. Going 4 innings he would only give up 3 hits, 3 walks, 0 earned runs with 7Ks. Such a great performance was answered with another one with the bats. The Whale would tack on 12 runs this game. Andrew Billig (3-4, 3 1B, BB), Chet Warner (2-4, 1B, 2B, HBP), Austin Brochu (3-5, 3 1B), Jay Torres (2-5, 1B, HR) and Mitchell Gryniuk (2-3, 2 1B, BB) would help the Whale get to that number. Jay Torres would scream out “see ya” when he hit his ball, only for the ball to hit the top of the fence and bounce over; oh the jokes that would have pursued if there was a different bounce. With a comfortable lead, the Whale decided to try and perform another “six inning” ritual on themselves in the bottom 7. Burlington’s #1 hitter, Lavelle, would lead off with a HBP to get on base. From there, they would score 4 singles, multiple stolen bases, a couple walks, and some bobbles by the Whale defense and just like that, the game was 12-6. The Whale was able to end the short comeback after that. Final Score: Whale 12 – Hunters 6.
