Bethlehem Plowboys 6 Winsted Whalers 0
The fight for sole possession of second place took place at Gallop Field Thursday night with Bethlehem knocking off the Winsted Whalers 6-0. George Bielizna got the start for Plow opposing Austin Brochu for Winsted, going 6 strong innings scattering 4 hits and striking out 5. The party got started early in Bethlehem as the Plow got the first run of the game on a bases loaded HBP scoring Ricky Descoteaux and then Jesse Swartout grounded into a fielders choice to give the team a 2-0 cushion. The second inning is where Matt Mancini took Brochu deep down the right field line to put the team up 4-0. Ryan Bethin and Ryan Reynolds would tack on the other 2 runs to pad the lead for Bielizna. Mark Cumming and Brandon Tagliataolia reached base twice for Winsted. Kyle Banche shut the door for Bethlehem getting 3 outs in the 7th to lock down the Plowboy W.

Brass City Vipers 9 Canton Crushers 5

Ben Sullivan hit the first home run of the season for the Canton Crushers and a had a double but the visiting Brass City Vipers beat the Crushers, 9-5 at Bowdoin Field Thursday.
The visiting Vipers scored five runs in the fifth inning to erase an early 4-1 lead for the Crushers and take control of the contest. The Vipers added three more runs in the seventh inning to turn a two-run lead into a five-run cushion. Jake Bryant was 2-for-3 for the Crushers with two RBI while Sullivan also drove in two runs. Sean Bahre was 2-for-3 for Canton, now 3-7. Starting pitcher Jim Spirito went four innings, allowed four hits and struck out five. He walked just three.
For Brass City (5-8), pitcher Joe Kwaak went the distance, allowing eight hits but striking out 10 Crusher batters. He walked three. Canton returns to action on Tuesday, July 5 when they host the Valley Thunder Ducks from Wolcott beginning at 5:45 p.m. The Crushers are in a fight for the final spots in the 2022 Tri-State League playoffs. The top 10 teams make the playoffs and at the moment, the Crushers are a half game behind Torrington Twisters (4-8), who currently hold the tenth and final spot in the playoffs. Canton’s Ben Sullivan had a home run and a double in Thursday night’s Tri-State League loss to the Brass City Vipers.
Torrington Twisters 3 Amenia Monarchs 0
The Torrington Twisters defeated the Amenia Monarchs 3-0 Thursday night at Fuessenich Park. The Twisters rode the right of arm of Kyle “Lesnar “Matthew’s and the glove and bat of DJ Goldie Reynolds. Matthew’s gave up only 4 hits and dominated the Monarchs. Reynolds drove in 2 and made all the plays at shortstop including the game ender while the Monarchs were threatening. Torrington got big hits from Owen Spina and a couple from BCarr. The Twisters also got a big hit from David Degrom Strager who played his last game as he is headed back to school. The Monarchs got a double from ex Uconn player Colby Dunlop

Southington Gamecocks 6 Naugatuck Nightmare 0
The gamecocks defeated the newcomer Naugatuck nightmare 6-0 Thursday evening . The gamecocks were once again carried on the hill by Michael Nanai pitching 6 shutout innings followed by a solid 7th inning by Kyle Simpson. Offensively the two Pats (smith and Raymond) combined for 3 hits and knocked in 5 RBI . Christian Peterson also added two hits for the gamecocks. Angel Valentin and Christian Cuevas had hits for Naugatuck. The gamecocks look to improve to 8-5 Tuesday against wolcott.
