Thunder Ducks 12 Canton Crushers 7

The valley ducks advanced to 4-4 on the year after beating the Canton Crushers 12-7. The ducks were lead on the mound by Matt Kozlowski (3.1ip, 4h, 1r) and Kyle Daddona (4ip, 4h, 3r). Ducks had contributions from the entire lineup, but we’re carried by Shane Fusco (3-5, 3 runs, 4rbi), Ronnie St. Dennis (2-4, 2 rbi), and Frank Frosceno (1-3, 2 runs, 2bb). Canton  was lead offensively by Ben Sullivan (3-5, 1 run, 1rbi), Jake Bryant (2-4, 2 rbi), and Jack Rose (2-5) 

Amenia Monarchs 4 Blasius Chevrolet 2

On a cool Saturday afternoon the Amenia Monarchs we’re able to edge Blasius 4-2 in a pitchers duel at Hotchkiss field. Blasius would get on the board first in the 3rd inning with a HR off the bat of Blasius starter Justin Marks. Steve Carosella would single in the 2nd run for Blasius in the 3rd. Mike “The Bulldog” Cipriano would start for Amenia but came out after the 3rd inning with some shoulder discomfort. Cip would give up 3 hits and 2 runs to the veteran Blasius offense. Colby Dunlop took the mound from the 4th inning on giving up just 1 hit while striking out 6 in 4 innings of work. In the 4th a throwing error would lead to the Monarchs first run and in the fifth a mental error would allow Amenia’s Jacob Shpur to steal 3rd and be singled home by Tyler Smith tying the game 2-2. Amenia would take on 2 more runs in the 7th with a sac fly by Mackenzie Dunlop and a fielders choice off the bat of Chris Reed. Missed the Novakowski brothers yesterday, but always fun seeing Rovinetti, even if he didn’t wear his wig for the game! Happy Father Day to all the Dads

Winsted Whalers 16 Burlington Hunters 2

Playing baseball on one of the windiest days ever it seemed, the Whale would play the Hunters at Lewis Mills HS. What would be a final score of 16-2, the Whale offense got hot and just hit the ball at any chance they could. Leaders like Jay Torres 3-4 with 3 singles, Justin Mohardt 2-3 with a single, HR, and Bryce Taglialatella 2-3 with 2 singles and 3 RBI to lead the Whale to 16 runs. For pitching, Jay Torres started on the mound. Like a true Whale, he walked the first batter. After that, he partially settled in and went 6 IP, 2ER, 2 hits, 8K, and 10 walks; might be the truest Whale start we have seen to date. The game got interesting when the Hunters brought in their knuckleball pitcher. I have never seen so many whiffs and popups from the Whale team. Final score, Whale 16 – Hunters 2.
