Southington Gamecocks 4 Canton Crushers 1
The gamecocks edged the canton crushers 4-1 in a beautiful evening game in canton. The game started off with the gamecocks drawing blood in the first with a walk followed by back to back base hits by Pat Smith (2-4) and Tyler Fernandes (2-4 2B RBI). The crushers answered with multiple base hits in the bottom of the first and an rbi single by the ageless jimmy spirito (2-3). The game was locked at 1-1 for several innings thanks to spirito keeping the gamecock offense at bay. The gamecocks were happy to see a new pitcher come in to say the least. The offense got going again with a base hit from Nate Crocker followed by back to back singles by Fernandes and Smith and eventually a ball that fell in left field brought them both in to score. It should be noted this was the first game the TWO Pats , Smith and Raymond played together on the field all season, it was good to have him back. Michael Nanai gave the gamecocks 5 great innings on the mound in relief of Christian Peterson pitching the first two innings. The gamecocks move on to Amenia Thursday having won four straight games
