Burlington Hunters 7 Canton Crushers 6
The Burlington Hunters defeated the Canton Crushers 7 to 6 in a back and forth game on a rainy night in Canton. The Hunters started the scoring in the top of the 3rd with a 2-run blast from George Zaruba, his second of the year. The Crushers responded with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th. In the top of the fifth the Hunters would take the lead back thanks to a clutch 2 out double by Justin Campbell that drove in 2 runs. Canton would respond by tying the game in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single delivered by Mike Sullivan. The Hunters were able to scratch 3 more runs across between the 6th and the 7th to take a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the seventh the Crushers loaded the bases and threatened to tie the game and quite possibly walk off. However, Ty Emet was called upon to close the game out with 1 out in the seventh, and was able to get a ground ball for the game ending double play. Jimmy Spirito logged 6.2 innings for Canton, striking out 7. Ty Morin started the game for the Hunters, but Alex “Cobb” Hansen was awarded the win on the mound. As always, Bob-O-Pedic Hansen kept a perfect book IN PEN. The downpour did not stop the Hunters from their torrid pace of winning the lot as they continued their undefeated streak going back several seasons. Burlington improves to 4-6 on the season. Canton 3-8
