Amenia Monarchs 7 Southington 66ers 5
The Monarchs were able to pick up their fourth win in a row, improving to 6-1, holding off a tough Southington team 7-5. If you missed the first inning of the game you missed almost all of the offensive action! Southington would come out scoring 4 in the top of the 1st behind hits from Pat Raymond and Adriano Moura and some sloppy play by the Monarchs defense. Going down 4-0 in the top of the first was not what the Amenia Fans came to see so the Monarchs squad answered with 6 in the bottom half to make the score 6-4. From then on the game belonged to the pitching and defense as both teams were able to scratch across just one more run a piece for the remainder of the game. Pat Raymond pitched well for the 66’ers going the distance giving up 7 runs on only 6 hits. The Dunlop brothers (Ginger bread boys) were able to hold off the Southington offense as starter Mackenzie Dunlop gave up 5 runs (3 earned) over 5 innings striking out 9 while allowing 4 hits.
