Tri-Town Trojans10 Torrington Rebels 0
Trojans pitching continued there dominance against Torrington. Miles Scribner and Charlie Benson combined for a 2 hit shutout while striking out 11 batters. Trojans were led on offense by Austin Patenaude (2 hits and 2 runs) and Nick Briatico (2hits,2 runs, 2 RBIs). Trojans collected 10 hits as a team. For the rebels, Jim Lamanna and Shawn Grol had their 2 hits.
Bethlehem Plowboys 8 Southington 66ers 2
Ty Erickson went 7 innings gave up 2 earned runs striking out 5 and got the win. Justin Taylor struck out 4 to close out the last two innings. Ricky Descoteaux, Matt Mancini, Ryan Reynolds, Jake Torrence all had 2 hits, Torrence and Joe Fainer had 2 RBI’s a piece, Nick Yousefzadeh was 4-5. Pat Raymond and Pat Smith had RBI’s for Southbury.
Blasius Chevrolet 11 Burlington Hunters 3
If the third day of summer is any indication Blasius will finally get to play some baseball. The rain stopped and 10’s of people came to see a lively game. For the first time in a week the boys from Balsius where able to get a game in. It did take a few innings to get things going as Burlington was able to get on the board first when Krol was able to come around on Chad Lavelle’s one out double in the bottom of the second on Cy Young candidate Will Aldmen (4-0). In the Top half of the third Blasius got something going against Burlington starter Krol. The third was started innocently enough when Dave Vadnais was hit by a pitched and advanced to second on a walk to Jeff Fonti. Vadnais would come around to score the tying on Connor Goggins’s fielder choice, and an error. Goggins would come around to score in the inning as well making it 2-1. The game would come on done for Burlington in the 5th and 6th inning as they would give up 7 runs. Only 3 of which would be earned on doubles by Goggins, Steve Carosella, and Eric Rovinetti. In the 7th Goggins would drive in a run with a single and in the 9th Fonti would dive in last run of the game on a single. The win moves Blasius to 5-1 and keeps them in a tie for first place with the Tri-Town Trojans. The boys return home for the start of a 4 game home stand. The first of which will be with the Wolcott Scrappers on Tuesday night at the Hotch at 5:45. The lose drops Burlinton to 500 at 4-4. Bristol Greeners 4 Winsted Whalers 3
For the second game in a row, the Bristol Greeners walked off in the bottom of the 9th, this time against the Winsted Whalers. After Tyler Ropp singled and Jake Dubrosky walked, Zac Bartolome laid down another perfect bunt, causing an overthrow which allowed pinch runner Kenny Knox to score the winning run from third. For Bristol, Tyler Ropp threw six strong innings with six strikeouts, and Jerry LaPenta struck out six in the final three innings. Bartolome (2 runs scored) and A.J. Lorenzetti (3 RBI) had three hits each, while Corey Plasky had two hits. For Winsted, Rick Langer had a triple, two RBI, and a run scored.
Valley Thunder 6 Northwest Orioles 4
The Valley thunder defeated the northwestern orioles Sunday afternoon 6-4. The valley thunder was lead by Danny Perez 2-5 and Nick Forino 3-5. The orioles had bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the ninth, the thunder changed pitchers and was able to close out the game with a strike out a pop up and for the final out a ground out to the pitcher. The thunder pitchers combined struck out 15 orioles and only allowing 1 earned run.
Terryville Black Sox 12 Canton Crushers 0
With Jake Kawiecki on the bump 6inn 6K’s 3hits the Black Sox continued their hot hitting plating 12 runs on 11 hits. Breaking the game open in the 6th scoring six runs. The Sox were led by Gavin Lavallee, Andrew Hinckley, Nick Delotto, and Kody Kerski all with multiple hits. Andrew Tremley doubled and singled for Canton. The Sox with Travel to Rotary field to take on the Naugy Dogs Tuesday night.
Wolcott Scrappers 5 Tribury Cave 2
Wolcott scrappers defeated Tribury 5-2 on Sunday Night at the BAW. Wolcott’s Isaiah Negretti and Tribury’s Ben Guisto had a pitchers duel till the 5th inning. Tribury struck 1st in the top of the 5th scoring 2 runs after Alex Rauso reached on an error and then was moved to 3rd after a dble by Tom Rinaldi , then Zach Goldberg singled and both scored. Wolcott answered right back in the bottom of the 5th when Jeff Nicol led off with a line drive dble and then advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, Isaiah Negretti singled in Nicol , Alan Stinson reached on another error and then Tyler Smith Lined a single to right field scoring Negretti , then Dan Kennedy hit into a fielders choice scoring Stinson giving Wolcott a 3-2 lead . In the bottom of the 6th Wolcott added some insurance runs when Matt Warren led off the inning with a solo homerun , Brendan Clark followed with a dble , Nicol walked then Isaiah Negretti singled in Clark to give Wolcott the 5-2 lead for good. Wolcott’s Isaiah Negretti pitched a complete game 3 hitter striking out 10 . Ben Guisto allowed 8 hits striking out 9.
