Litchfield Cowboys 6 Amenia Monarchs 3
The Cowboys must have shopped at Dicks to find gloves and bats without holes in them because they had their first game without an error and managed to string together double digit hits last night against the Monarchs. The Cowboys started the game off scoring 5 runs on 6 hits in the first inning, led by Edwin Pequignot Jr. (3-4 2rbi r) smoking a 2 rbi double in the gap followed by rbi singles from Drew Gauvain (1-4 rbi), Dan Hedden (1-4 rbi), and Garrett Conaghan (2-2 rbi r). Their sixth run came on Morgan Skelly’s first contact with a ball since the last Yankees World Series win, driving conaghan in on a triple. Those 6 runs were all that was needed for Alex “The Bird” Milne who came out chucking like an old Greg Maddox going 6.33 innings striking 7 out and walking none. His only blemishes came in the 7th when he gave a leadoff double to Tom “double scoop” Downey Jr (2-3 rbi r) and a towering pop up home run to Will Perotti (2-3 2rbi r).
