Northwest Orioles win 1st Tri-State Game
Northwest Orioles 2 Bethlehem Plowboys 1
The Northwest Orioles escaped with a 2-1 win after Bethlehem left the bases loaded with no outs in the 9th. Winning pitcher was Mike Goretti, who gave up only one run in five innings. Cavan Brady got the four inning save, striking out five. The Orioles were led offensively by Brendan Dempsey, 2 for 3 with the winning run scored. The Orioles had RBI by Anthony Lupiani and winning RBI by pitcher Mike Goretti. Bethlehem was led by Joe Fainer with 2 hits and Craig Campbell with an RBI double. Rob Geraci took the hard luck loss, giving up two runs in 6 innings while striking out four.
Burlington Hunter 5 Winsted Whalers 3
Hoping the stars would align in their favor, Burlington headed to Winsted in search of their first victory… Although Steve Caruso did his best to show why he cannot play shortstop, the Hunters got their first win of the year edging the Whalers by a 5-3 score Ty Morin got the win on the mound going 5.1 innings. Jay LaFontaine came in and shut the door for his first save of the year. George Zaruba (2 for 3 1 RBI) and Jay LaFontaine ( 3 for 4 3RBI) led the Hunters in hitting. Alex Cobb-Hansen (1 for 2 2Runs )also has a stellar day at the plate. Burlington held down the lead with stellar defensive replacement Brian O’Leary manning down the hot corner. The Whalers were led offensively by Dan Brady (2 for 3 2RBI) and Austin Brochu (2 for 3 2Runs). John Lippcott made a Top 10 diving catch in centerfield, robbing Justin Campbell of extra bases.

Torrington Rebels 12 Valley Thunder 12
A pitchers dual in Fuessenich Park was called in the bottom of the eighth inning due to lightning. The game reverts back to end of seventh inning, per MLB rules, where the score was still 12-12. Game will be finished in the future.
Blasius Chevrolet 11 Wolcott Scrappers 6
Blasius wasted little time in getting things started as Manny Cruz, and Mike Vaccarelli would both walk to start the game. Both would eventually come around to score on a single by Eric Rovinetti and a sac fly by Steve Carosella. The game would remain 2-0 until the Blasius offense would get things going again in the top of the 4th. Vaccarelli, and Rovinetti doing the damage with a single piece that drove in runs to make it 5-0. Wolcott would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Brenden Clark, and a 2 run single by Kyle Dean making it a 5-4 game. Blasius put the game out of reach with a big 6th inning. Cruz drove in two runs with a double, while Paul Novakowski, Lou Serrano, and Kellen Croce all had RBI single in the inning to make it 10 -5. Both teams would add runs for 11-6 final. Blasius was lead on the mound by Will Aldem who pitcher 5 inning picking up his first win of the year. Aldem, Gary Novacowski, and kellen Croce would combnined to strike up 18 Scrappers over the 9 innings. For Wolcott, Steve Urbanski 2 hits single and dble , Matt Warren 2 hits with 1 rbi 1 scored and Kyle Dean 2 hits with 2 rbi. Blasius moves to 2-1 on the season and will take on Torrington on Thursday at Fuessenich Park at 7:00pm. We would like to thank out sponsors for making this season possible.
Naugatuck Dogs 18 Amenia Monarchs 11
Tyler Boisvert picked up the win in relief pitching 6+ innings as Naugy beat Amenia 17-11. Matt Lehane and Brendan Slattery each had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s. Tom Downey pitched well in relief and added 3 hits for Amenia.
Terryville Black Sox 14 Southington 66ers 2
Sunday night didn’t start out very well for Terryville with their first two batters going down on strikes, but then after a miscue at first base and back to back jacks by Gavin Lavallee (3-6 HR, 2B, 4RBI) and Justin McCoulloh (4-6 HR 2 RBI) the Sox would plate 4 runs in the first and never look back. Nick DeLotto added 3 hits while Tony Patane and Chris Ayer added two. Billy Armstrong (2-0)4inn 4K’s 1hit, Kenny Kerski and Dave Alarcon combined to scatter 3 hits in their innings of work. For southington Pat Smith Went 2-3 with a double and run scored and Ben Hampton added two singles. Terryville will come back home to face the Vally Thunder Wednesday.
Saturday June 1: Litchfield Cowboys 9 Bristol Greeners 3
The Cowboys came out on top today behind another strong performance by Justin Koutros who has yet to give up an earned run this year in two starts and tallied his first win of the season. He went 6 innings 6 k and 2 hits 1 unearned run. The Cowboys offense was led by Tommy Johnson, 3-4 1 run 2 rbi, Drew Gauvain, 1-3 1 run 3 rbi and a double, Eddie Pequignot, 2-4 double run and rbi. Anthony Lorenzetti led the way for the Bristol Greeners going 3-3 with 2 rbis. The Cowboys play against the Winsted Whalers June 6 next.
