Tri-Town Trojans 8 Winsted Whalers 1
The Tri-Town Trojans traveled to Walker field in Winsted for their 2018 opener. Miles Scribner went the distance giving up one run on four hits. He added five k’s and zero walks to the equation. Timely hitting by the Trojans with Andrew Prince (2b,3b, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) and Bobby Smith (3-4, run, and 3 RBI’s) got scribby a comfortable lead to work with. Winsted was led by Jeff Negron at the plate with a run and a single.

Bristol Greeners 6 Valley Thunder 3
The Bristol Greener’s Defeated Valley Thunder on Sunday 6-3 in ten innings. The Bristol Greeners were lead by Jaeden Rasmus who had four hits, and Kyle Torok who had two hits. Jerry LaPenta pitched six innings for the Greeners allowing only two hits and zeros runs along with seven strikeouts. Jaeden Rasmus pitched the seventh and the eighth innings. The Greeners were winning 3-0 going in to the bottom of the seventh. Valley thunder scored one run in the bottom of the seventh and scored two runs to tie the game on an error in the bottom of the eighth. Brad Burney came in to pitch the ninth and tenth innings for the Greeners and is credited with the win. In the top of the tenth the Greeners scored three runs from hits from Jaeden Rasmus and Kyle Torok along with a pass ball. For Valley Thunder they were lead by Shane Fusco with two hits. Ryan Ahern pitched nine innings for Valley Thunder only giving up three runs on nine hits and thirteen strikeouts. Tyler Peliterre came in to pitch the bottom of the tenth for Valley Thunder suffering the unfortunate loss.
Terryville Black Sox 3 Blasius Chevrolet 0
The Terryville Black Sox opened up the season with a 3-0 victory over Blasius Chevrolet behind the dominant pitching performance of Kody Kerski and Billy Armstrong. Kerski went seven innings allowing a single hit, while striking out ten, before giving way to Armstrong in the eighth who allowed two hits and struck out four. The Black Sox jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning after a Chris Ayer hit by pitch, Conor McEvoy Walk and RBIs by Tony Patane and Armstrong. Ian Schmidt and Ayer each had two hits a piece to lead the offense while Patane, Armstrong and Chris Comeau added an RBI a piece.
Wolcott Scrappers 5 Tribury Twisters 1
Justin Koutros threw six innings and struck out twelve to lead Wolcott on opening day. Mike Vaccarelli had three hits and an RBI, while Matt Warren added two hits and an RBI. Koutros also had an RBI single. John Hirschbeck singled and homered for Tribury.
Bethlehem Plowboys 3 Burlington Hunters 1
Pat O’Neill got the win on the mound going seven innings, allowing two hits, zero walks, and ten strikeouts. Joe Fainer had an RBI double, Teddy Gravel home run, and Clete Lorusso added a sacrifice fly. Burlington scored on an error and sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
Litchfield Cowboys 13 Winsted Whalers 6
The Litchfield Cowboys defeated the Winsted Whalers 13-6 behind strong pitching performance from Zach Haupt who went the first four innings allowing zero hits, six strikeouts, and one walk while the Cowboy offense pounded out twelve hits, Mike Odenwaelder, Brooks Belter, and Colin Dickinson led the team with three hits apiece. Oldenwaelder, Brooks, Steve Consiglio, and Dan Hadden all had two RBI’s apiece. Dan Heddon’s two RBI came on an inside-the-park
home run. Winsted did not go down without a fight as they put up six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before Steve Consiglio came on to finish the threat. Warren (2 RBI double) and Como (2 RBI’s) led the Winsted offense.
Torrington Rebels 12 Canton Crushers 8
The Torrington Rebels beat the Canton Crushers 12-8 on opening day of the 2018 Tri-State season. Taylor Riley and Sean Bahre set the tone early for Canton scoring two runs each for an early 8-3 lead. The Rebels offense, lead by Jake Narvesen, Nick Yousefzadeh and Roberto Santiago exploded in the seventh inning batting around to score seven runs. Ian Pierce picked up the victory on the mound going six strong innings to end the game. Heath Cotton homered to deep left center for his first home run of the year. The Rebels take on the Tribury Twisters Thursday night at Fuessenich Park.
