Litchfield Cowboys 1 Winsted Whalers 0
Cowboys take the win over the winsted whalers 1-0. Dan Hedden had two hits and pitched a complete game shut out. Steve Harrison had two hits and a run scored as well.
Valley Thunder 8 Blasius Chevrolet 5
In the first game of Sunday’s doubleheaders, the Valley Thunder beat Blasius Chevrolet, behind the complete game performance of starting pitcher Matt Meier. For the Thunder, Donny Ek went 4-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored, while Spenser Griffin went 2-4 with 4 RBIs. For Blasius, Paul Novakowski led the team, going 3-4 with an RBI.
Valley Thunder 4 Waterbury Cougars 3
In the second game, after a fast start for the Waterbury Cougars, the Valley Thunder came back from a 3-0 deficit to walk-off in the bottom of the 7th. In relief for the Thunder, Victor Catano pitched 5 innings of shutout ball with 7 strikeouts. Matt Meier went 2-4 with the game winning RBI, while Ricky Parenteau went 2-3 with an RBI and the game winning run. For the Cougars, Tyler Campbell and Mike Martini both went 2-3 behind the arm of Justin Proteau’s 9 strikeouts.
Amenia Monarchs 9 Canton Crushers 3
The Monarchs improved to 9-5 with a 9-3 win over Canton. Amenia jumped out early with 8 runs in the first two innings but Jim Spirito came in and closed the door. Canton couldn’t get it going offensively with Travis Hyatt on the mound for Amenia. Hyatt picked up the win going 7 innings. For Amenia Chris Reed and Dylan Sartori both went 3-4 while Tyler Riley did the same for Canton.
Bethlehem Plowboys 10 Terryville Black Sox 2
Tyler Erickson gets the win while Kevin McDonnell and Joe Fainers led the Plowboys attack with 3 hits each. Plowboy legend and new papa Tony Geraci missed his 3rd straight game as he was on Daddy Day Care Duty 🙂
Blasius Chevrolet 3 Burlington Hunters 0
In the first game of a double header, Blasius Chevrolet beats Burlington 3-0. Blasius was led by Pitcher Joe Serafin who threw a complete game shutout with 12 k’s and only giving up 2 hits. The tie was broken in the 4th with a Matt Wahl single to to left. Justin McCulloch and Jeff Fonti accounted for the other two RBI’s in the 5th and 6th. Naugatuck Dogs 15 Torrington Rebels 3
Jeff Sturm pitched 5 innings allowing 5 hits while striking out 2 to lead Naugy to a 28-3 victory over Torrington at Fuessenich Park. Kyle Murphy (4-5 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R) got the Dogs on the board in the first inning with a 3 run home run to start an 11 run first inning. Ryan Plourde (HR, 3 R, 7 RBI), Jeff Rustico, and Devin Murphy (2B) all added 4 hits for Naugy. Sean Miller-Jones, Brendan Slattery, and Ryan Russell all had 2 hits for Naugy. Chris McKenna had 2 hits and an RBI for Torrington.
Southington 66ers 11 Tribury Twisters 0 (Double-header)
The 66ers won game one 11 – 0 behind Brian Boerner’s complete-game three-hit shutout. Kyle Dube with three hits and Patrick Raymond with two hits paced the 66ers offense. Josh Dobratz, Pat Smith, Brian Boerner, Matt Santovasi, and Dave Randazzo contributed RBI hits. Matt Santovasi had a busy game in right field with nine putouts and threw out a runner at home plate to preserve the shutout. For the Twisters, Nate Zappone had two hits and Zack Goldberg singled.
Southington 66ers 13 Tribury Twisters 8
Southington won game two 13 – 8. Patrick Raymond’s two-run home run, Connor Crean’s three hits, and Pat Smith’s two hits led the 66ers offensively. Steve Roy, Josh Dobratz, Kyle Dube, Brian Boerner, John Mikalopas, and Matt Santovasi added timely hits. Josh Dobratz pitched four solid innings and Matt Dell’Agnese pitched a scoreless final inning for the 66ers. For Tribury, Dom Mascola had two hits and Nate Zappone, Evan Devico, Jack Debiase, Tom Rinaldi, Ben Timme, Zack Goldberg, and Ben Brown added hits.
