Amenia Monarchs 8 Torrington Rebels 4
In Amenia Sun. afternoon the Monarchs defeated the Rebels. With the Rebels leading 3-1 in the 4th and the bases loaded rookie Tom Ford { 2-2} hit triple to put Amenia ahead. Matt Hosier unloaded a two run homer in the 5th to put Amenia up for good .Nick Yousefzadeh {3-4} with a HR and double led the Rebels. Travis Hyatt went the distance scattering six hits for the win.
Watertown Blaze 7 Southington 66ers 0
Dom Severino led the Watertown Blaze to their 17th win of the season 7-0 over Southington. Severino pitched 6 innings of shutout ball while allowing 3 hits and striking out 11 and went 3-3 with an RBI at the plate. Mike Mastrocola added 2 doubles for the Blaze (17-0). Josh Dobratz pitched well in defeat for Southington. The Blaze will finish the regular season tomorrow against Naugatuck at 1 o’clock at Deland Field.
Friday June 15
Bristol Greeners 11 Litchfield Cowboys 10
The Bristol Greeners picked up the victory Friday night at Page Park in a back and fourth game against the Litchfield Cowboys. Litchfield jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after three consecutive singles with two outs off the bats of Colin Dickinson (2-3, RBI), Drew Gauvain, and Victor Rodriguez (2-4, RBI). Bristol responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Jalen Benoit and Jerry Lapenta each drove in a run with two-out singles. Bristol’s lead was short-lived, though, when in the top half of the third Litchfield plated five runs to take the 7-4 lead.
Bristol responded back in the bottom half of the fourth with 3 runs sparked by Tyler Cyr’s triple which scored Lapenta and Shawn Mirmina (1-3, SB). Bristol tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 11-10 lead and Cyr (4 IP, 3 R (1 ER), 5 K’s) closed the door on the Cowboys in the top of the seventh to pick up the victory.
Bristol will be back in action on Sunday afternoon with an 11am game at Holy Cross H.S. to take on the Tribury Pavers in their final regular season game. Litchfield will host the Bethlehem Plowboys on Sunday at 11am at Litchfield High School. Round 1 of the Tri-State League Playoffs will begin next Thursday.
Naugatuck Dogs 2 Torrington Rebels 1
Lance Stevens pitched a complete game allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out 13 to lead Naugy to a 2-1 victory over Torrington. Kyle Murphy went 2-3 with a 2 run home run and Macky Cianciolo had 2 hits for the Dogs. Omar Alcantara had a RBI single for Torrington.
Wolcott Scrappers 8 Brass City Brew 1
Matt Finkenzeller went the distance scattering seven hits and striking out six. Clete Lorusso had a single, triple, RBI and scored twice while Israel Lugo singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Lou Serrano singled in Matt Wahl for Brass City’s lone run.
