CANTON, July 2 – Litchfield’s Tri-Town Trojans took advantage of seven walks and rapped out nine hits to win their sixth straight game with a 6-1 Tri-State League victory over the Canton Crushers Saturday morning at Bowdoin Field. Three of the Trojan runners that reached base on walks eventually scored. Connor Murray had a RBI single for Tri-Town (8-4) in the third inning while Gorbowski had a two-RBI single in the fourth. Joe Burnell had a RBI double in the sixth inning for the Trojans. Andrew Osolin took in the win on the mound, pitching 5 innings allowing 3 hits. Connor Murray came on in relief with 3 strikeouts in the final two innings.
Canton (2-10) was led by Ben Sullivan, who was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Jake Bryant had a double while Devon Warren and Taylor Riley each had singles. Player/manager Tom Dubois had a RBI ground out in the sixth inning drive in Canton’s only run. Bryant doubled and moved to third base on a ground ball from Warren. Tri-Town combined to strike out seven Canton batters and gave up just five hits.
The Crushers return to the field on Thursday night when they host the Bristol Greeners (5-7) at Bowdoin Field at 5:45 p.m. Canton has four of their remaining six games left at home and all six teams are under .500. Bristol is currently tied for the 12th and final playoff spot. It will be a busy week for the Crushers. Canton will host Amenia, N.Y., (1-7) on Sunday, July 10 at 5 p.m. at Bowdoin Field and host Southington (5-7) on Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m.

The Trojans would strike in the first inning, scoring all 3 runs. Landon Gardella (2-3, RBI) doubled home Mike Fabiaschi, followed with RBI’s from Sam Shurberg and Steve Price. Miles Scribner took the win, scattering 5 hits and with 5 strikeouts. For Litchfield, Drew Gauvain had a double and sacrifice fly and Victor Rodriguez added an RBI single.
