Six Watertown Blaze pitchers combined to throw a perfect game against the Valley Thunder and a 5-0 victory on Tuesday July 5th. In the 5th inning Kyle Pelkey made a spectacular backhand play behind second base and threw the runner out at first. With one out in the seventh, Valley hit a scorching line drive to right field where Chris Ayer came up throwing to first to get the runner and preserve the perfect game. Kyle Kennedy, Tom O’Brien, Jay Spear, Steve Consiglio, Brooks Belter and Dom Severino combined to throw the perfect game and strike out 10 batters. On offense, Dom Severino had 2 doubles, 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.
Naugatuck 6 Tri-Town Trojans 0
Jeff Sturm pitched a complete game shutout allowing 3 hits while striking out 2 to lead Naugy to a 6-0 victory over Tri-Town. The Dogs were led by Ryan Plourde who went 2-4 with a home run.
