East Mountain Cougars 2 Torrington Rebels 1
The East Mountain Cougars upset the Torrington Rebels 2-1 on Thursday night at Crosby High School. The Cougars were led byTravis Markey pitching 6 outstanding innings of 1 run baseball. Markey struck out 4 on the day only giving up 3 hits to get his first win on the season. Anthony Moura came on in the 7th to get the save and struck out the final batter with the bases loaded for the Cougars to get to 1-9 on the year. In the bottom of the 4th, John DeLucia led off the inning with a stand up triple and Travis Markey knocked him in with a double to break the 0-0 tie. Jesus Garcia added the 2nd run of the inning with an infield single to bring in Markey. Anthony Moura, Jeff Cappa, Matt DeLucia, and Joe Galante all added hits for the Cougars on the day. The Rebels fall to 8-2 and were led by Adam Fuoco with a double and run scored. East Mountain (1-9) take on the Naugatuck Dogs next Tuesday.
Winsted Whalers 4 Tribury Twisters 3
Winsted won on a walk off double by Tyler Cremeans (3-4). Robert Weiss pitched five strong innings striking out four. Ben Schumacher pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Ben Brown had two hits and was the hard-luck loser for Tribury.
Litchfield Cowboys 9 Burlington Hunters 6
Cowboys win over Burlington 9-6. Justin Binkowski pitched a complete game. Brian Hungerford had two doubles while Steve Harrison lead off the seventh with a double and was brought in by a two out single from Travis Fitch. Harrison played a great game as he also added a single and a stolen base earlier in the game.
Wolcott Scrappers 6 Amenia Monarchs 0
Matt Finkenzeller threw a three hit shutout striking out six as Wolcott improved to 8-3. Cleve Lorusso singled, doubled and scored twice. Israel Lugo, Elvis Martinez and Matt Cyr all added RBI’s for Wolcott. Mackenzie Dunlop pitched well for Amenia who fell to 0-6.
Bethlehem Plowboys 11 Valley Thunder 0
Jesse Darcy through a complete game 3 hit shut out to pace the Plowboys. Offensively, Mike Milius lead the way with 4 hits and Christian Callahan with two hits. Bethlehem takes on Torrington Sunday at 11 am in Bethlehem.
Terryville Black Sox 5 Thomaston Threshers 4
In a hard fought back and fourth battle, Terryville took the lead in the 8th inning on a John Augelli single. Billy Armstrong (6-0) took the win in relief.
