Valley Thunder registers first victory
Valley Thunder 3 East Mountain 1
The Valley Thunder gets their first win of the year. Matt Meier pitches a complete game striking out 5 waking 1 only allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run. Paul Adamczyk got things started with a two out 2 run single (1-3), John Griffin added with an RBI single (1-3). Mike Bowes for the Cougars went 7 strong innings striking out 6 in the tough luck loss.
Thomaston Threshers 9 Burlington Hunters 4
Jesse Vermeech threw the complete game for Thomaston for his 1st win of the season, and for Thomaston. Allowing 3 runs in the first inning. Jesse settled down striking out 8, scattering 9 hits. Andrew Bunger scattered 4 hits over the first 5 innings, striking out 2, while blanking Thomaston. In the top of the 6th Thomaston got on the scoreboard with 2 runs off of a sac fly by Andy Romano, and a base hit from Trevor Bellemare. Thomaston continued its scoring with a 7 run 7th inning. Taylor Landry lead off the inning with his 2nd double of game (3-4) while Dylan LaMay (2-4) capped off the inning with a 3 RBI double which put Thomaston ahead for good. Will Sirotnak chipped in with a double, and a 2 RBI single. Burlington was led by Brady Hecht (3-4) 2 doubles, 2 singles 1 RBI, and Alex Hansen (2-4) double 2RBI.
Litchfield Cowboys 6 Brass City Brew 4
The Cowboys outlasted the Brew 6-4. The winning pitcher, Justin Binkowski threw five 5 innings. Brendon Roden had two hits and Ed Pequignot added a double and 2 RBI.
Bethlehem Plowboys 4 Wolcott Scrappers 1
The score was tied 1-1 through four innings, but Wolcott’s starter, Zack Sehnal, had yet to give up a hit. The Plowboys then stringed together two straight hits to start the 5th inning as Tony Geraci (1-3) lead off the inning with a triple. Teddy Gravel (1-3 RBI) then followed with a single up the middle to plate Geraci as the go ahead run. Bethlehem ended up scoring 3 runs in the inning in support of the complete game winner Pat O’Neill. Israel Lugo had two hits and an RBI for Wolcott.
Winsted Whalers 1 Canton Crushers 0
The Winsted Whalers edged the Canton Crushers 1-0 in a pitchers duel on Friday night at Walker field and improved to 2-1 on the season. Nate Marshall threw 5 scoreless innings for the Whalers giving up only one hit and striking out 6. Adam Piechowski worked a scoreless 6th and 7th to close the game.
John Reiley pitched a complete game for the Crushers. He gave up 5 hits and allowed only one run.
Winsted was lead at the plate by Johnny Lippincott (2 for 3) and Tyler Cremeans (1 for 2, RBI, 2B)
Canton was lead by James Huff (1 for 3). Canton plays next on Sunday, June 5th at 5pm at Bowdoin field in Canton. Winsted plays at Walker on Sunday, June 5th at 3:30pm.
Watertown 7 Tribury Twisters 0
The Watertown Blaze improved to 4-0 after a 7-0 victory over the Tribury Twisters Friday night. Dom Severino, Tom O’Brien and Charlie Benson scattered 3 hits and struck out 8. Tony Patane led the offense with a 2 run home run and Nick Delotto added a 2 RBI double.
