Dave Vaidnas picks up 100th career win

Brass City Brew heading to AABC regionals
At 39 years-old, Dave Vadnais (Brass City Brew), threw a complete 3-hitter game versus Watertown for his 100th career amateur baseball win. His team will advance to the AABC Regional Tournament on Thursday July 30th. Vadnais, who joined the Tri-state baseball league 18 years ago, has played with the Brass City Brew ever. Tri-state was just another stepping stone for Vadnais, as he exceled at Holy Cross High School and then moved on to pitch for Southern Connecticut State University and played for several other semi-pro leagues. When interviewed by the Brass City Brew SID, “I was only looking to throw strikes”, Vadnais said, “We have one of the best defensive teams in the state and it showed today.” The only run came in the first inning off of the bat of Brian Fay (unearned run), a deep fly out that Gary Miller had a difficult time relaying in after his catch. Brass City Brew SID caught up with Miller after the game: “My uniform got caught in the fence which made it difficult relaying the ball in.” After that, Vadnais settled in and dealt. Vadnais, giving up only three hits and one unearned, earned his 100th career win. “This was a great win for the Brew and for Dave,” Brass City Brew Founder Sam Sirica said. “We have been together since the start of the Brew and this is by far the best win for Dave.” Brew catcher Andrew Rocco said, “Dave was on fire today, he was throwing fastballs, changeups and a nasty slurve keeping the Watertown hitters off balance.” On an offensive note, Brass City struck Watertown’s best for 10 hits and 8 runs. Brass City, keeping its hit parade going, will roll right right into the regional tournament Thursday facing the best that New England has to offer.
