Winsted clinches final playoff spot

In dramatic fashion, Winsted scored two runs in the bottom of the last inning to pick up a 2-1 victory and clinch the 12th and final playoff seed in the Tri-State League playoffs. Trailing 1-0 and down to their final 3 outs, Charlie Putnam led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Lippincott. Ben Schumacher walked, Darrin Gould singled and Connor Guiheen walked setting up a two out single by Alex Struzinsky to drive home the winning run. Schumacher pitched a complete game four hitter. Aaron McCulloch pitched a complete game four hitter. Steve Carosella reached base three times and had the lone rbi.
The following seeds are locked in for the Tri-State playoffs; seeds 2-6 have yet to be determined. Naugy is the #1 seed.

Sunday July 26
Bethlehem Plowboys 5 Litchfield Cowboys 2
Pat McGee Squeezed in the go ahead run in the Top of the 7th then Bethlehem added two more runs to take a 5-2 lead. Starting pitcher Jesse Darcy shut the door after the late runs to finish his complete game win. Jon Conlon paced the offense with 3 hits. Litchfield and Bethlehem will play again Tuesday 5:45 in Bethlehem
