Winsted Whalers 4 Tri-Town Trojans 1
Austin Brochu pitched a complete game two hitter with five strikeouts and allowed one unearned run. He was also 2-2 with a double. Johnny Lippincott was 2-2 with a walk and two RBIs. Justin Morhardt scored twice and stole a couple bases. Bobby Chatfield pitched a complete game allowing 6 hits and striking out 7. Winsted is now 6-9 while Tri-Town drops to 10-3.
Terryville Black Sox 4 Wolcott Scrappers 3
The Wolcott Scappers opened up the game with three runs in the top of the first inning and also got out of a no out bases loaded jam in the bottom half of the inning. Then Billy Armstong(6-2) came in and retired 18 straight and 23 of the 24 batters he faced allowing the Black Sox to chip away and tie the game. Matt Donfrio and Zack Dandrea had 3 hits each. Armstrong, Rob Mclam and Edwin Pena had two hits each, but none more important than Jake Tehans walk off single in the 9th. Eric Soucy had to hits for Wolcott and Isreal Lugo and Elvis Martinez both singled and scored.
Litchfield Cowboys 14 Thomaston Threshers 3
Litchfield jumped early with 8 runs in the first 2 innings and cruised to the win. Joey Serafin got the win on the mound going 5 solid innings. Bryan Failla, Kyle Weaver, Harrison and Chris Blazek all had 2 hits a piece. Dylan Lawrey launched a triple for Thomaston.
Naugatuck Dogs 15 East Mountain 1
Adam Neveski pitched 6 innings allowing one earned run while allowing 5 hits and striking out 10 to lead Naugy to a 15-1 victory over East Mountain at Bucks Hill Park. The Dogs were led by Kyle Murphy who went 1-3 with a grand slam and two runs scored. Ryan Russell, George Harlamon, Christian Cuevas, and Matt Zahornasky all had two hits and an RBI a piece for Naugy. Mikes Bowes had two singles for East Mountain.
Watertown Blaze 15 Bristol Greeners 0
Four Watertown Blaze pitchers combined for a 15-0 shutout of the Bristol Greeners. The offense was led by Gavin Lavallee 3 hits including a home run, Tony Patane 3 hits and 3 RBI and Kyle Tehan with 2 hits and 5 RBI. Brian Fay, Conor McEvoy, Patane and Lavallee all scored 3 runs a piece. The Blaze sit at 10-5 with 3 games remaining in the regular season.
Burlington Hunters5 Canton Crushers 4
The Burlington Hunters picked up a back-and-forth victory against The Canton Crushers this Thursday at home. Andrew Bunger and Miguel Sanchez took the mound for Burlington and Canton respectively, keeping the game close while offenses battled for the lead.
Canton struck first in the 3rd inning when Ben Sullivan and Chris Vanderbogart combined singles with a wild pitch to bring in the first run of the game. Canton picked up their second run of the game in the fourth inning with a hit from Jon Scippa.
answered back in the fourth inning however with three runs to take the lead the in the bottom of the fourth thanks to hits from both Jeff Maytas and Brady Hecht.
Canton rallied back again in the fifth scoring two on a string of hits including a long double from Mark Trotta. Canton was denied a third run when Burlington’s center fielder Steve Caruso made the long throw to the plate to get a attempting-to-score Jimmy Spirito.
In the sixth Burlington rallied as Ryan Mariotti, Caruso, and Hecht strung together three hits for two runs putting them ahead 5-4. Ty Morin came in the bottom of the 7th and closed out the game for the Hunters, earning the save. Bunger picked up the win for the hunters and Sanchez the loss for the Crushers.
